hotels.com or expedia

Can anyone give me information about making a hotel reservation thru either of these...I've never used either and we're hoping to book a Chicago trip in July. I've seen much better prices for some of the hotels we're considering at their websites, but I just don't know how to go about it....

Please give me your suggestions and experiences, how you book with them--anything you can tell me will help.

Well the first thing I can tell you is that they are the same company.

First, you've gotta register on their site.

Pick your hotel.

Pick your dates.

Pick what kind of room you want (if the hotel listing has choices).

Book the room.

Pay for the room (you have to prepay for your ressie when you make it).

They'll send you a confirmation email and then one asking if you want to set up other things on your trip (dinner ressies, car rentals, entertainment, etc.).

I've used Expedia several times for my trips (including first Disney trip) without any probs.
