Has anyone had any experience getting a refund from hotelkingdom.com? I cancelled a reservation the last week of January and was told my refund minus the $20 cancellation fee could take up to a month to post. It has now been almost 2 months. I have called 6 times only to have someone take a message telling me someone in accounting would call me back which they never did, or been told it should post in the next 2 days which it still hasn't. Has anyone else had this kind of experience with this company? What kind of recourse do I have if they continue to not issue my refund?

I had very good service from them. I got my refund within 24 hours minus the 20.00 cacellation fee. I think they waive the fee because when I arrive at my hotel it was the worse hotel I have stay in long time.

I have not had experience with them as a customer, but as a hotel manager. They were terrible about forwarding reservations to us and we had guests show up all the time with nothing in our system, because they failed to forward their reservation to us. Luckily we always had a room to put the guest in, but it made for a nervous check in for the guest when we could not find their ressie:scared1: Hope your situation gets resolved soon! Theres really no excuse for that....

I remember reading a post here about someone booking through HotelKingdom, only to learn that they didn't have a room? Something like that?

I'm looking at HotelKingdom right now, and they show availability at Cypress Point for my dates (and at a good price, too). I'm a little hesitant to book, knowing there might be cause for concern .... anyone with recent experience?

The way HotelKingdom works is you book a room through their website, and then they fax your information to the hotel you have booked. Problems can arise when a)guest makes reservation for same day arrival and fax does not arrive before the reservation manager leaves b)reservation manager fails to tell hotelkingdom that the property is booked, and guest makes a reservation thus overbooking the hotel or c)guest makes reservation and HK never forwarded it to the hotel. All of these situations happened to me when I worked for the Grand Bohemian. All were resolved easily, it just makes for nervous moments for the guests when they arrive and no reservation can be found. A good hotel would make things right, even if they were overbooked, but I am not so sure all would take that approach....

I've checked with the VRI website, and they also show availability at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas ... I guess I could call, that would be the surest way to know there's space available, right? And follow up with the resort after booking?

If you check with the resort after then you should be in good shape. Believe it or not this same process is how Expedia, Hotels.com, Priceline, and Hotwire all handle their reservations, so checking with the hotel after using a 3rd party website is always a good idea:thumbsup2

I'm still waiting for my $20 - FROM OCTOBER! Never, ever will I use them again.

Last trip was in 2005. I did confirm with the resort though. We stayed at Cypress Pointe Resort. It was great. We're staying again this June.
