We are looking for a hotel/resort with separate bedroom and some cooking facilities. I have searched, but the list is endless. Doesn't have to be on disney or in fact really close. We don't plan on cooking major meals, small ones. Just 2 of us. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I know alot of people will mention Bonnett Creek or Sheraton Vistana.

I really like the Hawthorne Suites on Palm Parkway in Lake Buena Vista, it's a little less expensive. They have a seperate bedroom area, living room, kitchen, breakfast included and a cocktail reception at night. It's clean and close to Disney.

I know alot of people like the Buena Vista Suites as well.

We had a good experience at the Hawthorn Suites on Canada Avenue (in the International Drive area). You can find my write up and lots of photos of both the hotel, the amenities, and our room (a one-bedroom suite) in my trip report here:

I think its post #3 that starts the hotel report, and it continues on in the next several posts as well.

For value, its a great deal for the nightly rate:

- Separate sleeping area
- Two TV's
- A full kitchen (including a full sized fridge, a stove, a dishwasher, microwave, etc.)
- Free daily hot and cold breakfast buffet
- Free transportation to Disney, Universal and SeaWorl-
- Free nightly happy hour (two free alcoholic drinks per person, unlimited fountain soda, and various light snacks)
- Outdoor pool, hot tub, and basketball court.
- Covered area outdoors with barbecues for guest use.
- Hotel screams location, location, location. You can walk to all sorts of food venues (Chili's, TGI Fridays, Pirates dinner theatre, chinese restaurants, etc.). . Drive to Universal in under 10 minutes. SeaWorld is even closer. Outlet Malls just minutes away. All the I-Drive attractions one block away. World Bowling Center right across the street. Wet 'N Wild is about 3 minutes by car.
- I-Drive Trolley stop is just one block away.

Very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We paid about $75 per night for our New Year's trip. Well worth it :thumbsup2.

Thanks Gina, that is the type of place we are looking for. Bonnet Creek is a little too far from I-drive for us. I will check out HS.

We will be staying there in December, so I'm glad you have good reviews! I know they have shuttles, but I can't figure out if there's just the one to the Epcot transportation hub, or more. Do you know? Also, how long does it really take to drive to each of the parks, including US & IOA? TIA!

I'm sorry I don't remember the exact travel times to the parks. I also am not sure about the shuttle. I know that travelling to all the parks including Universal would be 30 minutes and under. You have to count in more time for parking, taking tram, etc.
