Hey all,

I live about an hour from Orlando, but long story short my mom and grandma are coming into town, and my 2 year old son and I are going to head over to Orlando with them for a night in about 2 weeks (while my husband and father paint our house! Hooray! :rotfl:) I'm looking for a cheap hotel that has a zero entry pool, or very shallow pool that my almost 2-year-old would love. We probably won't go to any parks, more likely just hang poolside most of the time.

My grandmother is 92, so we would also love a hotel that has lots of paths/walkways away from cars where we could push her and my son could have a bit of freedom to run ahead without holding hands the whole time. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

The only resort that I personally have visited with a zero entry pool is Art of Animation.. your child should LOVE IT.. Mine did and she was newly 2. The big pool is Finding Nemo themed and there is also a splash play area and a little play ground. Lots of area to walk around, all the Cars are out in the radiator springs area. Only issue is that the only standard rooms are Little Mermaid themed and a longer walk to the Nemo pool and the main concourse area.. There is a pool in the LM section but it is not the zero entry. My daughter managed the walk fairly well (except late when we had been in the parks all day) but we didn't have a wheelchair as well.

HGVC Parc Soleil has a zero entry pool and a fenced in playground with a nice sun shade covering the whole play area. There is also a walking path that goes around the lake. It also has a parking garage which is a really nice feature.

Thank you guys so much! Art of Animation may be the winner...my son is now OBSESSED with Mater (from Cars), so if the cars are out there, we may be heading that way! I'll check out the other hotel as well! Thanks!

Considering your 92 year old grandmother may not be able to stay out in the June/July heat for extended periods, I would recommend you call Gaylord Palms to receive the Florida resident rate. If you are military they also have a Florida resident rate. There are also other discounts you may inquire about. Gaylord has the zero entry kids area as well as you can push your grandmother around the atrium (wheelchair accessible) or find a nice spot for her to sit. They also have some indoor (free) shows depending on the time of year on the stage in the Atrium.

Here is a video of the Cypress Springs kids play area. You tube has endless videos on Gaylord Palms Atrium area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlw4RDDPWCI

This is my personal opinion is I would lean more towards what hotels accommodates the grandmother's needs the most while still meeting the little ones needs.

I am sure others will also have individual recommendations as there are so many places to choose from.

Karen, thanks for the idea. You are right, my grandma can not stay outside long...we'd have to have her outside in the early morning/evening. She does like being out in the sun, but also likes to take naps in the air-conditioning. That being said...Gaylord Palms looks like it would be awesome! Thanks for the info!
:thumbsup2
