I read that GF has the best Christmas decorations of all the resorts...is this true? (article years old...)

While at WDW last December, we decided to resort hop to see the decorations. We saw Board Walk (we stayed here), Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Wildnerness Lodge. I honestly can't say that one was better than the other because they were all themed for the resort. If you want a Victorian feeling, then GF is the place to be. But Boardwalk is a very close second with a Victoran Seashore feel. If you want rustic lodge, then there's no place like Wilderness Lodge. The Contemporary was just that, "contemporary." It's not my style, but it worked very well for the resort. The Polynesian's decorations were beautiful as well. They used tropical flowers in their decorations instead of the typical poinsettia and holly.

I really think it depends on your tastes and what Christmas means to you. I loved all the resorts we visited for different reasons. I say stay at the one you typically like the best and visit the rest of them!!!

In my humble opinion, yes, the Grand Floridian's Christmas decorations are the prettiest! :cloud9: There's just something about that pale, high ceiling'd lobby with the skyscraping tree--simply great. :flower:

Good info. We already are staying at SoG, I just wanted to visit other resorts, as you all had said, to see what others did... Poly and GF are close by so we'll definitely see those; thanks for the info.

The theming is so different with each hotel that its hard to put a "best" tag on any one of them. It comes down to personal taste. For us, we loved the Boardwalk. It was very elegant looking. Decoration viewing is such a fun thing to do around the holidays at WDW. When those parks are packed full during the day, take a break and tour a few of the resorts. Its so relaxing and puts you in more of a holiday mood. Have fun!

I agree that GF is beautiful and a very in character gentleman gives out roasted chestnuts. WL has a roaring fireplace and a huge tree and a northwoods feel that is a traditional cozy Christmas. Swan and Dolphin are also pretty especially at night. I have to say I like the large number of Christmas trees at POP too and it combines the Christmas season with Disney which is special to us.

The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful! Beach Club is very nice too. They had a gingerbread carousel before at Christmas.
