They have standard and premium in room. If it's still the same then the standard is $9.99 for basic speed and $14.99 for a higher speed. It's been that way for a while. I don't really check as a Loews Platinum member we don't pay for it. So we choose the highest.

Standard WiFI is now free in the rooms .It has been since January.Premium is $14.95 a day

That's news to me. I really don't pay attention but I remember putting in my room number and name and selecting plan. We are there all the time. Is there somewhere posted online? Let us know. Thanks.

I found it.

"Complimentary** wireless Internet access in each guest room and most common areas of the hotel
Upgrade to Premium Plus^^ wireless Internet access for optimal entertainment and business needs. "

"**Premium wireless access is complimentary for up to 4 devices per room for a 24-hour period 1pm to 1pm.
^^Premium wireless access is $14.95 for up to 8 devices per room and for a 24-hour period of 1pm to 1pm."

So ... can videos be streamed with the standard wi-fi, or is an upgrade to the premium necessary?

I would also like to know the answer to that question. We will be there the end of Oct and we have movies on our tablet and laptop and I am wondering if we need the premium.

If they're already on the devices you shouldn't need any WiFi access

and if they're not? Anyone know?

What I'd suggest is try it and see. If the streaming is too slow for you there are 2 choices, pay for the upgrade or alternatively, start the movie and pause it immediately say 1/2 hr before you want to watch it. Unless the WiFi is really slow that should give you enough buffering. You could also try this before you upgrade and only upgrade as a last resort.

I stayed at the Loew's Royal Pacific in January for the Harry Potter Celebration. The free wifi was so painstakingly slow for even simple things like checking Facebook that we ended up making one of our iPhones a mobile hotspot and using it instead. I didn't try to stream anything because if it can't fully load a FB newsfeed we figured it wouldn't handle streaming. This could have changed and they could have improved it but we weren't impressed. Also though we could have been farther from the wifi on out room than perhaps some other rooms.

Well...that doesn't sound good. Thanks for the info. We always had free wifi with blue membership. That sucks actually but I will use my iPhone hotspot.:sad2:
