Hi,

We are driving to WDW and hope to arrive at WDW the day before our Reservations start. The question I have is, We need a cheap, clean hotel to stay in the nite before and would like it to be around WDW. Could someone recommend one please? This is our first time driving to WDW and we don't want to make a reservation somewhere and don't make it as far as we thought.

Thanks

We stayed at the Econo Lodge the night before we arrived. It was neat because we got free airport shuttle service, so when the towncar picked us up in the morning to take us to Disney, it was cheaper because we didn't have to pay the airport fee. Our rate was 30 dollars a night. Clean, yes. Cheap, yes. Ghetto, very. The first room they gave us wasn't cleaned. The second room they gave us the fake wood face on the sink fell off and was resting on the floor. I was convinced the lock didn't work so I made DH put all our luggage up against it. Although in the morning we discovered the lock did work, I just didn't know how to use it.

It made for a story to tell. It really wasn't that bad for 30 dollars I guess.

Oh, I just noticed you are driving. Don't stay at the Econo Lodge at the airport then. I just looked at hotels.com and there are tons of hotels under 50 dollars. The Econo Lodge in Orlando is only 38 a night and it looks really nice. Huge pool with palm trees.

I would book a room ahead of time. Just check the cancellation policy. Most places you can cancel your reservation up to 4 pm the day you are supposed to check in.

You should know before 4 pm if you will make it all the way to Kissimmee or not.

By reserving ahead of time, we had a King size bed for $33 a night on 192.

That was lower than the posted rates at even the cheapest motels along the Highway, and the posted rates are for single rooms.

I would ONLY recommend the Days Inn if you are looking for rock bottom prices.

It was clean, the staff friendly, but the continental breakfast was a JOKE. Luckily we had cereal and milk, juice and bagels in the room from our drive down.

We booked the room directly from the Days Inn website and didn't use any discounts other then the internet rate they were offering.

There are many, many inexpensive hotels on 192 in Kissimmee. My favorite is the Sleep Inn on 192 West about 4 miles west of World Drive.

I needed a hotel the night before my reservations started on 12/28/03-1/02/04. I went on priceline and bid $40.00 for a 3 star in WDW/LBV area and got Courtyard at DTD(it became the Holiday Inn after we checked-out). Convenient to night at DTD, great deal. I think any of the area hotel would have been fine for one night. You can also do the kisssimme area, but I found this area more convenient to check-in at Swan the next morning.

I placed a bid on Priceline for $40 and got the Doubletree Villa Orlando Maingate. It got pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor. This will be for 1 night in August.

I would also bid on a priceline hotel as well if you know you will be there that night. Check out a site called biddingfortravel.com. It really provides a lot of info if you want to use priceline for a room.
