hotel suggestion

We are planning a trip that will begin at DL and then on to other sites around LA. We would be going to Universal, Hollywood, for sure. Any suggestions for hotels in safe areas? We would love to find a Homewood suites, Embassy suites, Country Inn and suites etc.

Hilton has a very nice hotel right next to Universal Hollywood, it might be a little pricey but it's a very nice hotel and an excellent location.

We always stay at the Sportmen's Lodge every year for about 5 days and LOVE it there so much! You can get a great rate at expedia for about $115 a night including breakfast. They have a free shuttle to Universal and also free to the burbank airport. They are also on a major bus route and its easy to take public transportation from there to almost anywhere if you don't have a car!
