We may be going to DLR for 3 nights near the end of June for my birthday. I used to live in So. Cal growing up, so i never stayed in the disney hotels, just drove there and drove home same day. When i moved to Phoenix, AZ, we would normally just drive in and stay at the motel 6 up the road on Disney Way and go for a day or two. We want to keep hotel cost down, so im wondering if you think Motel 6 is still fine to stay at, or should we try priceline to get a better place and if so, how far out should we try? we are looking at june 23-26, 3 night for 3 of us, 2 adults, 1 minor. I did priceline about 10 years ago and got a good deal if i remember, but its been so long since i used them.

What do you think is the best strategy for this, also any good place for 3 day tix?? best we found was our AAA office, for $235 for 3 day hopper.

I've gotten some good deals through the name your own price from priceline. They were all 3+ star hotels under $80/night, however none were within walking distance. Favorites 'round these parts for off site hotels within walking distance are the Howard Johnson, The Candy Cane Inn, The Park Vue Inn, Tropincana, Best Western Park Place Inn, and the FairField. There are many more, but these tend to get better reviews.

I've done the motel six on Katella before. No problems with it. It was just a room with a bed and a bathroom, no frills. We like having a fridge, though, so motel six isn't a motel we frequent.

Thru last minute vacation club I've seen the Sheraton park for $100 nt and you get room credit per day as well. Nice pool area 15 minute walk to the park and on the ART route

I would check getawaytoday.com as they have 3rd & 4th night free deals.

If you've bid before and walking distance isn't an absolute need, try betterbidding.com and you'll get plenty of help.

If you want to see the hotels, then I second using last minute travel. I've seen the Red Lion for $65/night. We've stayed there before - nice clean, recently renovated rooms and they are on the southeast corner of katella and harbor.
