Hotel Solamar vs Marriott Mission Valley?

We'll be traveling from Disneyland to San Diego on Friday, May 25 and staying through Memorial Day weekend. We are a family of 6 (grandparents, parents and two children ages 3 and 5) and plan to visit Legoland and Sea World. We are torn between staying at the Marriott Mission Valley, which is your pretty standard hotel, vs. the Solamar Hotel in the Gaslamp District. Any thoughts on the two? We'll be flying out of the San Diego airport on Monday, if that makes any difference.

My opion will not be helpful.

I've stayed at many Kimpton's and had a great experience every time, never stayed at the Solamar but would consider it if in your posistion.

I've stayed at many Marriots and then one treated me to terrible service and they will never get my business again.
