Hotel(s) near LAX or SFMM?

We are checking out of our DL hotel on a Friday and leave LAX for home on Sunday, early. We intend to go to MM either Friday or Saturday. Does anyone think it makes sense to get a hotel room near MM or should we just get one near LAX?

Also, any recommendations for reasonable priced hotels? Nothing too fancy, but not a dive either.

personally between the two choices i guess i would stay by LAX but if you are going to go to MM two days then I would stay by MM since it is quite a drive back and forth. I have no idea of any hotels there as I have not stayed anywhere up there. sorry

I also have an early morning flight home and just got a fantastic rate at the LAX Hilton - US$63!!!!! The drawback is that it's completely non-refundable - i.e. no cancellations and no changes so you'd better be darned sure of your plans before you book!!

I couldn't find any negative reviews of this hotel on the 'net; being 3-star and a Hilton, I'm guessing/hoping it will be fine. It's very close to LAX - the address is 5711 West Centure Blvd. For more info, go to www.hilton.com; the number for reservations is 1-800-774-1500. To get the cheap rate, I had to 'phone this number, the prices on the web were more expensive.

I really do think it makes the most sense to stay near LAX. I just wanted to see if anyone came up with a great reason I hadn't thought of to stay near MM. We plan on going there only for one day. And yes, we are all coaster fanatics in our house. We are so used to Cedar Point, we have to try MM.

I will definitely check into the Hilton and see if I can get that price also. Thanks!

Is also exactly what the hilton site offers, the rate is called Hilton saver 21 day advance purchase.
The big drawback for most hotels in the LAX area it seems is that they charge anywhere between 12 and 14 dollars per night for parking.
The best rate Hilton offers without prepaying seems to be 71 dollars without and 87 with breakfast for 2.
It is close to 40 miles however from the hotel to SFMM.
There is a decent priced Best Western in Valancia, close to SF.
But the rates do hover around 100 dollars per night i think.
