Hello! Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with the Hotel Royal Plaza? My parents are thinking of joining us on a trip to WDW. They like the hotel website and the description of the beds - "a pillow-top mattress, snow white duvet, and plush pillows."

My other thought is whether or not this hotel, located in the Dowtown Disney area, qualifies as a Disney resort. I don't think it does, but I'd like some sort of confirmation and can't find what I am looking for on the WDW site. I am specifically wondering about the extra magic hours...

Any comments would be appreciated! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I stayed at the Plaza this past Sept. and it was a very nice hotel. It was just rehabbed last year so the rooms we had were very nice. The only draw back was the buses they offer are very crowded with all of the other hotel guests in the area since they share them and they only ran about every 30 to 40 minutes. They are not a hotel that gets EMH. The only hotel at Downtown Disney who gets the EMH is the Hilton. Hope that helps.

We stayed at Hotel Royal last May. The rooms were very nice and quite large. The pool was nothing great, in fact we didn't even use it. The worst part was the buses. We spent so much time waiting for the buses that it really cut into our theme park time. It's a toss up, we loved the rooms, but we wouldn't stay again just because of the bus situation.

Hope that helps! It is in walking distance to downtown Disney which is nice.

I stayed there in October. While it is on Disney Property, it is NOT a Disney Resort and does not qualify for EMH.
It was a decent hotel in all..but with the resort fees, the airport transportation costs, among other things I ended up paying more money than if I had stayed at a Disney Moderate Resort! My next trip in October 2008 will be at the CSR.
I've posted the link to my review

Family of 5 were there January 2-6, 2008. It is not exactly like the picture shows, much prettier in the pictures. The beds were comfortable, large room but not Disney enough for my family. The bus system is horrible, however not just at Plaza but for all of the hotels in DTD. We rode buses one time and decided to drive to the parks all the other days.

Horrible layout for the rooms, very long hallways with very few elevators. We were on the second floor, almost the very last room on the hallway, had to use stairs as elevators were way around front and much out of the way from the parking. Parking was free, however you get what you get.

We stay at POR or Wilderness Lodge, will either stay on site or change dates. The room rate by the time we paid for parking at park and hotel tax, it was cheaper and MUCH nicer onsite.

We wanted to upgrade to the tower and were told we could, however we would be billed for an extra night for cancelling reservation. That was crazy within itself. We would have paid extra 75 dollars to up grade for each night, however they would not let us with charging an extra night to our room. Go figure.

Wilderness, see you in March::banana:  :dance3:
