We are supposed to be checking in to HRP tomorrow night for two nights before checking in at SSR. They just called my husband and said that they are overbooked for tomorrow. They have moved us to the Best Western across the street, and then we are supposed to move to the HRP on Friday morning. I am soooo upset. I don't want to move two days in a row, and I was looking forward to the newly renovated rooms.

I guess that I should be glad that they have already taken care of it, but it is just a bit of a bummer, kwim?

yes and they should have given you a choice. and called you before the day you leave - what would have happened if you had already left. say you were driving.

that is just bad customer service.

Are they offering any compensation for overbooking? Usually a hotel will give you something for this.

The only thing they told my husband was that they were moving us. Maybe there will be something offered when we get there.

Something similar happened to us but we didn't find out about the overbooking until we got to HRP to check in. They sent us to the Hilton Garden, I think it was. We were only staying OP one night and then moving anyway to BWV so it wasn't that big a deal.

We got our stay at the Hilton Garden totally free...We didn't pay a single dime. It is a super nice hotel too. Wish we would have had more time to enjoy it.

Thats a shame - HRP is a marvelous hotel. Really really nice...

What if you pitched a fit?

Last year a Hyatt Regency in Maryland overbooked on the night I had reserved a room. They paid for my 1 night stay in an equivalent hotel just down the street PLUS gave me a voucher for a free hotel night stay at any Hyatt Regency in the U.S. I would think Hotel Royal Plaza would compensate you some how for your inconvenience. That would be good customer service.

I just might if I am not satisfied when I get there. Although, I will probably be ready just to get to the parks that I won't want to waste too much time. I'm sure everything will work out. I just can't do anything about it till I get there.
