Hotel room phone question

Do you get charged, like you do with a cell phone, if someone calls you on your hotel room phone? We are staying at the CR and wondering if we should have family call us on our cell phones or straight through to the hotel room. Thanks

You won't be charged for incoming calls. If you were, you wouldn't know when to answer the phone because you wouldn't know if it was the front desk or someone calling from outside.

There is no charge for incoming calls. I always give the room number to my family back home so they could call me.

A word of warning, though. They do charge you $.25 for every outgoing call that you make. I.E., last December I purchased a phone card from a convenience store to use to call my parents each day (they were watching DD). The number was toll free, and I'd paid for the cost for the minutes when I purchased the card. The big surprise came when I received my itemized bill with all of these $.25 charges!!! I really don't understand why they do this, but oh well!!!

Actually, I think the charge is $.75 per outgoing call, unless it's a call to another room at your resort or one placed by pressing the special buttons (i.e., not 7 or 11 numbers) on the phone. It is a little bit less for people staying at DVC resorts on points.

The sad part is that this actually one place that Disney is cheaper than average. I routinely get charged $1 to $2 for calls from a hotel room!

You know, this is so funny. As I was typing my post I was thinking, "why in the world was I ticked when I got my bill over .25 a call?" Now I know why... because it WAS .75! Ok, now I don't fell so cheap!!!
