Hotel/Resort/Condo recommendation for pre-Aulani stay

We're heading to Aulani next summer and are thinking of staying off site for 3-4 days before our stay to get some of the sight-seeing stuff out of the way. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced hotel/resort/condo for a family of 5? We don't have a specific location in mind so we're open to anything.

I think it depends on your goals with sight-seeing.

We enjoyed the Turtle Bay resort area. There are a lot of condos available for rent off the golf course for reasonable rates. That gives easy access to sight-seeing on the North Shore. We loved staying in this area for a few days on our last trip. It would be very relaxing and fun for snorkeling, kayaking, shopping, horseback riding, etc.

However, if you are thinking more about a location closer to Waikiki/Honolulu/downtown area, then this would not work at all for you.

Thank you for the reply. I'll look into in. This will be our first trip to Hawaii and I think it might be nice to stay on the other side of the island. I have a lot to learn and a lot of research to do.
