You can try SuperShuttle for your transportation from the airport.

There are a couple of malls near enough to the LAX. One is the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach. However, there are no real hotels that are within walking distance that I can think of.

There is also the Del Amo Mall, which is in Torrance, and there are a few hotels near that mall. The Del Amo Mall is bigger, with a really nice AMC theater and bowling alley, restaurants, etc.

In the Anaheim area, you can try the Doubletree Suites, which is near the Block of Orange and within walking distance. They also have a dedicated shuttle to Disneyland Resort, if you'd like to use that for Disneyland. My cousins stayed there a few years ago & really liked it.

Near Gardenwalk you have the Residence Inn Maingate right across the street, and Motel 6 also close by, as well as some of the properties on Harbor Blvd, across from Disneyland. (Ramada Inn Maingate, etc.)
