We love love love HoJo. Stayed there for the first time last trip and it was perfect. Nice big corner room, super quiet building, fridge and micro, super clean. But the walk was a little much with kids. Making a two day trip after Thanksgiving and would like to stay closer. Desert inn and suites?

If you have to stay that close your choices are Desert Inn, Carousel and Park Vue Inn. The only way to get as closer is the Grand Californian because even the DLH is a farther walk. I have stayed at the Desert inn and Carousel and they are both fine.

Thanks! I'm kind of scared to venture somewhere else. HoJo was so great. Also considering nicer hotels a little further away and taking ART. But that's a pain with so many of us. And don't want to waste time waiting for tram.

Carousel inn and hojo are on the SAME street!! .. its an 8 min walk!:cool1:

Don't stay anywhere that you have to do art. It just takes so much time away and is really a pain. Read Hydroguys tips here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

We stayed at HoJo too and I did think it was a long walk at night. Another place right across is Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. We have stayed there before and it was fine. We had a minisuite with 2 Qs and a sofabed and asked to be on the top floor toward the front. No one walked over us to wake us up and it was fine. I think all of those hotels right along the crosswalk are pretty much the same so just pick the one that is the cheapest and has the biggest room for your group. People also rave about Candy Cane and we tried that too, same walk as HoJo but they had a shuttle that we always just missed in the morning. Rooms were small too but nice and clean.

There's the Tropicana as well.

While walking from HoJo to the parks on the hotel side of the street, hojo is *maybe* 5 extra minutes...

But if you walk on the OTHER side of the street, it's shorter. Why? Because there's almost no foot traffic, and you DEFINITELY aren't dealing with the cars and delivery trucks going in and out. Plus, the crosswalk at Manchester is quicker to get across without the crowds that conglomerate at the other crosswalk.

And then you can go in to the right as you pass the bus stop benches, instead of going to join the crowds from the crosswalk...walk on the yellow bumpy ped crossing through the taxi area, up the aisle that no one else is on, and join up with the mass of people well ahead of where you would have been if you'd walked along the HoJo side.

So for anyone who walked on the hotel side and didn't like it but is going to stay there again, cross Harbor at Manchester, instead of walking with the masses! :)

I'll prob just do HoJo again. I know I will get a clean comfy room that is walkable, even if not the closest. Maybe I should try another building? We were in building 2 I believe. Kinda far in the back. So quiet and the corner room was big. We requested it after reading the tips here. Which buildings are closest to crosswalk? Anyone have a map link? Thanks!!

I had building 3, none of the hojo’s buildings are near the crosswalk, but it’s not a long walk either..it takes less then 5 min to get to mimi’s from hojos, and 5 more(if you walk fast like me) to get to Disneyland(give or take)

and actually it took me less then 8 min to get to the park from hojo’s. but then again I don’t have kids that have to look at everything along the way, strollers, a husband etc..

We had no issues with our walk to HoJo but then DD is older - we did walk past the Camelot and thought that the place looked quite attractive and wondered if anyone had any feedback? Tripadvisor has given it 4 out of 5 stars.

there's also the marriot fairfield inn. it might be a little bit closer to the parks.

For the shortest walk, I think you should stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn. I've always wanted to stay there, but never find a good enough rate.

BW Park Place is right next to the crosswalk. Its not as nice as HOJOs but its so close to the park. Beware if you have a car though. The parking spaces are really narrow. If you stay there request a room toward the front of the hotel, just that much less walking.

We also hate the walk from HOJOs. We hate it so much we ride ART a lot of the time from there.

What about Candycane Inn, it used to be very nice but haven't stayed there in years.

Candy Cane Inn has really nice rooms. Nicer than HOJO imho. But if you want to walk less its not so good because its pretty much the same distance as HOJO.

We have done Fairfield Inn a few times. We always liked it- until we stayed at the HoJo! It is closer, but not enough closer that I would pick it over HoJo. The last time we stayed there it was in a really noisy front room near the main entrance- cars driving in and out all night and we hardly slept. So I'm kind of turned off by that place now, even though I know I could request a room in the back and be fine. As for CCI, I know it is highly recommended, both here and by friends IRL. But we stayed there years ago and it did NOT live up to the hype for us at all. Our carpet was wet and dirty upon check in, bathrooms weren't very clean, and there were cheerleaders staying all around us so it was loud. Very disappointing. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about it though, so our experience was prob just some really bad luck, but I hesitate to go there again. I appreciate the suggestions, and I hope this thread is helping others decide too, but I honestly feel safer just booking at HoJo. Even without the Ent rate, the 15% discount still seems like a good value for what it is.

I also don't think the HOJO walk is bad at all - and I've dealt with strollers! :) But if you want super close, I've stayed at (and liked just fine) the Carousel, Camelot, Desert Inn & Suites. Candy Cane Inn- I think their rooms are the smallest! I felt claustrophobic in their rooms - and I'm not that picky! It's a shame, because they had a pretty decent breakfast and the walk was comparable to HOJO.

We've always been happy at the BWPPI and get a great rate with our AAA discount. Call for a rate quote because for some reason the AAA rate is always cheaper over the phone than online.
