I need to book a room for my parents for 1 night. We are renting at BWV but we are all too frugal to spend the $ for a Friday night stay (we did because we have 2 children and didn't want to move only have a studio - theirs is 1 bedroom/king bed). They have their car, but would still like them to be close to us (they are our transportation to the airport on Saturday!) Criteria - cheap (reasonably), clean and safe but still as close as can be to us.

I've looked on expedia and priceline, but amy not familiar enough with the area to know which are truly close(st) to the Epcot/MGM area. I know Courtyard in DD has cheap rates, but my father uses a cane and I'd rather book at a "regular" rate and hope to get a room close to the elevators.

Suggestions/recommendations, anyone?

I stayed at the Courtyard in Downtown Disney in August and was very impressed with their service. I'm sure you could request a room near the elevators and have this honored. Mary at www.mousesavers.com also has reviews of hotels offsite, all of which are just minutes away from Epcot (except maybe Caribe Royale)

No, it wouldn't have to be on property, we won't be going to the parks on Saturday...it's just a matter of convenience, being closer together.

Explain his situation-possibly request a handi-cap room as they are usually easily accessed. Maybe ask for one in the wing on the ground floor near the back doorways. We parked back there and went right in and up the elevator.

Otherwise, reasonable rates at Fairfield Inn in the Marriott Village too. It's pretty much across the I from the DTD exit.

The Holiday Inn and Family Suites is practically onsite and it is on Epcot road.

hi ,how about the Swan or Dolphin hotels, they are right by the boardwalk and Epcot, if you are a goverment worker or a teacher you can get a great rate there!......... goof

As someone mentioned, the Swan or Dolphin are your best bet if you want close to the Epcot area.

Those maps the offsites put out always make me chuckle. They look like you are right on top of it, but that's "as the crow flies" and none of us can fly. That Holiday Inn is at least 20 minutes, with no traffic. No traffic is not going to happen - I predict at least 40 - 45 minutes for that drive.

MIkes mom,

You must be thinking of a different Holiday Inn.

The HIFS is right near the intersection of 535 and 536 and only a 5 minute drive right into Epcot parking.

Herc.

We just returned from 7 days at Country Inn and Suites Calypso Cay it is about the intersection of 535 and Osceola Parkway, we were very happy with this hotel. I paid 54 for the king suite and I overheard the front desk offering a regular room for 39.50. This included breakfast each morning. It is a new hotel, very clean. Very easy to get to the parks, it took us under 10 min to get to the parking lot at Epcot. I wrote a more detailed report on the orlando resort board if you want to read it.

Holiday Inn Family Suites is only 1 mile from the WDW gates. I know because we stayed at HIFS. And since there are only 3 hotels,on that road there isn't any traffic, even at the rush for park openings.
Besides the Kidsuites,HIFS has a whole building just for Adults with a pool.

Yes - Very quick out to HIFS. I would say quicker to HISF than to DTD & the Courtyard there.

Thanks, all. I bit the bullet and tried priceline. I struggled, I was really tempted to try HIFS but then reminded myself that they just needed a bed since they will be in our studio until bedtime. My successful bid ended up at the Hyatt Orlando.

Good job - I think I remember which one that is.

My mom & DS just drove thru Sauk City on the way home from madtown yesterday. Somehow she got that 18 year old anxious to get home to his girlfriend college student to take the scenic route!!!!
