Just a tip out there that I discovered when making a hotel reservation -- not all rates are listed online. I made a reservation online with a AAA discount, but had to change the reservation to the "age 50+" rate since the grandparents will be with us. When I called to change the rate, the customer service representative asked me if it was for the "50+" or "60+" rate. I didn't know a "60+" rate existed because it wasn't listed online. I said "60+" since that would be more appropriate to our situation and to my surprise, the "60+" rate was $8 per night cheaper than a "50+" rate. At the beginning of my call, I was expected to save $4 per night, but when I hung up I ended up saving $12 per night. For our 10 night stay, that's a savings of $120+!
The point I'm trying to make is to call and check if there are other rates available. It doesn't hurt to try and it's only a few minutes of your time. Of course, not everyone will be able to use the "mature adult" rate if you don't have anyone in your party that qualifies, but who knows -- maybe there are some rates out there that you do qualify for.
