Hello. We are flying in at 11:57 PM to LAX on January 1st. We are staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel beginning on the 2nd but due to the fact that we wouldn’t be arriving at our hotel until the 2nd, I didn’t want to spend that kind of money for that first “night”. Any advice or opinions on a hotel for that night?

I’m thinking that we want to get a hotel in Anaheim to take advantage of the lack of traffic at midnight at least (we’ll try for a Lyft). I will have had to work for 24+ hours the day before so I will just want to be able to sleep so an open pool and either a restaurant near by for breakfast or a continental breakfast that DH and the girls can go to while I sleep until the last possible second would be awesome. Please feel free to give your two cents.
I don’t know if it will matter but we are planning on having Pizza Press for lunch and have reservations at Medieval Times that evening for dinner. Check in at Paradise Pier is either 3 or 4. Thanks in advance!

I'd pick whatever was cheapest on Harbor for that date. I will say though that just because "check in time" at PP is at 3pm doesn't mean you can't go over earlier. Your room might not be ready but many people check in as soon as the books are turned over around 6am to take advantage of EMH (I know we do!) or just because checking in at say 10am works better for them

Thank you. Do you recommend calling to check on your room or just showing up? I’ve heard that you can use the pool before your room is ready so I figured we could do that after lunch. Thanks again!

You can check into any of the Resort hotels as early as 6am. They will hold your bags at the bell desk and issue your keys which get you EMH and pool access. Once your room is ready they will text you your room #.

That is also true for departure day. You do not need to be off property by checkout, just clear of the room.

I would get a budget hotel anywhere off site near by then once you wake up Uber to PPH, check in, then you can wander to DTD for breakfast and use the pool there to relax.

I’ve learned that just getting the hotel the night “before” is worth it. Not having to get up and pack what you took out, mode hotels, etc etc, is sonworth it.

It’s easy to think of “1am to 11am” as being what you’re paying for, but you get ease, more sleep, and the use of that room from 11am to whenever you might have gotten your actual room.
