Me and dd (age 11) are doing the mexican riviera cruise in August and have decided to do a few days at DL before the cruise but I cant seem to decide whether to stay at Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier...Let me know what you think is better and why. I will not have a car and since it will only be the two of us I want to stay on property to have the transportation...Thanks for your help...:confused3

First off....to have *what* transportation?

I stayed at DLH as a child and so I don't know about it now. But the PPH is a perfectly fine hotel that's a bit further away. Some say it's not as "themed" as the others, but I don't know b/c I haven't stayed as an adult at the others. As I kid at the DLH I was just excited to have room service scrambled eggs for the first time ever, and that's ALL I remember of it. :)

You are so lucky to be going on the cruise!!!!!

I, too, am eager to hear the answers you get as we would like to stay close enough for me to get around on a scooter and not have to board busses or drive to the parking lot each day and rent a scooter. Good luck . Hopefully someone out there will have just the answers we need. Have fun...

You are going in August. That means, to me anyway, pool is important. To me you cannot go wrong with the Disneyland Hotel. The Neverland Pool with water slide, hot tub area, and a separate "quiet" pool are top notch Disney. I believe this hotel is starting a rehab in January 2008 so make sure you check into whether it'll all be fully operational by August.

If budget is at all a concern, then the Paradise Pier is no slouch either. The rooms are bright and cheery and it feels very "fresh" though the overall theming could be goosed a bit. Its pool is, well, not so great, but it has a marvelous slide and a nice hot tub. I thought it was a great option overall.

I won't bore you about the Grand Californian since you didn't ask. Its also a marvelous resort on a par with the great theming that you find at WDW.

Lou-Ann: Grand Californian is the closest Disney hotel to the both parks. Some one in an ECV/scooter was staying in a room right next to me so its very "scooter-friendly."

I'm a Disney resort fanatic - both at DL and at WDW. Have a great trip!

I agree with CoolPool.:thumbsup2

Just to expand on the description of the Paradise Pier Pool, it's not that the pool isn't nice. The pool is fine and nice, but it's just your basic rectangle shaped hotel pool without any major theming. The pool slide at the Paradise Pier is the longest out of the three Disneyland Resort hotels. It's 180' long and looks a bit intimidating, but it's a fairly gentle slide, and it's the only slide that non-swimmers are allowed to use. Also, I think this hotel offers some of the best themepark views around.

On the flip side, the Disneyland Hotel has the Neverland Pool, which is wonderfully themed and large. The slide there is fun, and if I was to guess, I would say it's about 100' long or so. It's also very close to the Down Town Disney monorail station. Some rooms here also offer a wonderful view of DTD and the parks, but you'll pay more for these views at the Disneyland Hotel than you would at the Paradise Pier (even though the views from the Paradise Pier are better IMHO).

Both are great places to stay in my opinion, so choose whichever you like the best or whichever you find the best deal.:thumbsup2
