Hotel Only vs. Package

Good Morning - I was hoping someone could help me. Whats the best way to do this. I would like to book our hotel and if a hotel discount comes out i know we can have it applies assuming dates match and there is availability. Should i just book the hotel or can i book a package? Whats easier for disney to apply the discount to? I can wait to add tickets later if need be. thank you!

If you are strictly wanting a room discount (and not free/discounted dining), then just book a room only. However, if you plan to get your tickets through Disney or desire a dining plan, book a package. A room discount can be applied to a package, but a dining or ticket discount cannot be applied to a room only reservation. They are two different booking systems, so when switching between the two, the original must be canceled, refunded and booked as a new reservation.

I'm not sure that's the case. We always book room only and closer to departure date, we add our tickets on. We have booked discounted rates before and done the same thing with tickets. Never an issue for us. We have never added dining options to room only reservations though.

Sorry, I guess my post wasn't clear enough. You can purchase tickets as an add on closer to your trip, but if you are wanting a discount that comes only with a package booking, you have to cancel the room only and book an actual package.
