To all the:snooty:  HNY fans and others

We are going to stay at the HNY on our next visit to DLP:cheer2:

Having looked around during our recent visit there doesn't seem to be a lot of places to sit other than in the very small bar. The SL has a lot of seating outside of the bar areas, is this not the case at HNY? We are non-smokers so is there anywhere at the HNY that you do not have to constantly breathe in cigarette smoke ? The cheyanne, SL and DLH have places to sit away from the bar areas to some extent is the HNY the exception or have we missed something? I don't like staying in a hotel room for long, (I'm too nosey and enjoy people watching:guilty: :ssst: :rotfl: ) Josh doesn't cope long in confined spaces:jumping3:

Are you laughing at me Dee?!!! :teeth:

Now you mention it, I can't remember any places outside of the bar where you can sit. There may be a few seats scattered about, but not many. I made use of the sofas in the children's play area - but my DD was only 2 at the time!!!

As you say SL has loads of places to sit outside the bar area, but now I come to think of it, I don't remember there being many at the NPB. I wonder why?

Does that mean that when you are not in the park, in other words in the hotel, that you mostly stay in your room or can you find other things to do at the hotel ? I guess in the winter the ice rink is a big draw. I'm afraid that I resorted to sit in the chairs in the play area for a short time but I don't have small children so felt a bit guilty. I noticed that other adults must have done the same because they had left their cups and glasses on the floor. ( Somewhat dangerous ! !)

Hi Dee!

No there are no places to sit except the bar in the reception lobby and 3 small sofas in a kids play area. Its not like the Santa Fe where you can spill into the Cantina area.

HNY is nice though, they have the pool which is a bonus. Put in a request for a lake view room, you usually have to pay more, but you might get one if you've requested it, best to e-mail hotel 3 days before you go - have fun.

That's got me thinking!!! I wouldn't say we spend masses amounts of time in our room - but enough to appreciate it!! We went when DD was 2, so we tended to leave the room at a very leisurely pace in the morning and then return around 5 or 6. We also went with two sets of SILs and BILs, so would then meet up in the evening, in one of our rooms, for a drink, before going out to eat somewhere. We would probably be back again by 9 at the latest, so then we were confined to barracks for the rest of the evening. We were lucky enough to have a room looking over the ice rink, and I see you are considering getting one of those - well worth it!!!

I would just like to add that I don't want anybody choosing the HNY because "Becky said it was great" and then being disappointed!!! :rolleyes1 :teeth:

Thanks Becky
Don't worry I can't imagine that anyone would blame you if they were disapointed by their stay at HNY. No - one could hold you responsible. We all say what we think of varions hotels on the boards and its great to read everyones opinion ( I was only teasing you about the HNY fan club  ) Its great that you are prepared to share information and your own opinion but most of all that you are so enthusiastic about it.:goodvibes

Thanks Dee!!

I think a lot of people are put off by the look of the HNY, particularly the bedrooms - I know I was!!! We only tried it because we couldn't decide between Sequoia and the Newport Bay - and I'm so glad we did!!! Okay, it obviously doesn't have the fab location of the DLH, but for just a little bit more than the Newport Bay and considerably less than the DLH, it has rooms and facilities on a par with the latter!

Although it does tend to be overlooked amongst the choice of DLP hotels, I just want to let people know that it's definitely worth considering!! ::yes::

i love the HNY and think that it has a lot of good things about it. The swiming pool is amazing, my daughter (3) loved it!.
I do see however how some of the other hotels would have greater appeal for children.

It just came to me there is seating on the way to the conference centre.

Yes Nikki

There was only a couple of tables and a few chairs but a great place for a cuppa away from it all.
