There are two very close. Sheraton Universal and Hilton Universal. A little farther out
but with a free shuttle is the Beverly Garland. Then there are several in the Hollywood
area right on the subway line with easy access to Universal.
I wanted to learn more about this as well. I have am part of a big family and we want to stay in the same room. Sharaton and Hilton only allow up to 4 per room, which won't work for us. We're looking for suites for up to 8-10 people like they have at the Disneyland hotels.
Same thing here, 5 of us. Does anyone know if the Garland accommodates 5? It looks really neat and "old Hollywood". I see they have a shuttle to and from as well. Is it worth it to just stay at Disney the whole time and drive over too?
Beverly Garland has a few suites (4 or 5) that have 3 beds. I'm not sure if they have connecting rooms. Sportsmen's Lodge also has a shuttle and connecting rooms.
We just came back from staying at the Sheraton for the Halloween Haunted Nights at Universal Studios and it was well within walking distance. It's about a 10 minute walk and they also have a shuttle. We ended up walking because for us to wait for the shuttle and then get there in the shuttle would have been the same time walking ourselves. The property was nice. The Sheraton and the Hilton are the closest with the Hilton being even closer. Any other hotel will require some sort of shuttle or transportation as I didn't see anything near the entrance to the park at all.
