Has anyone made up envelopes for the maid tip money ahead of time? If so, what did you put on the outside? I did this at Disney and put Disney characters on the outside. Wasn't sure what to put on the outside of these for HRH.

I've done this at Disney too but I wasn't sure about doing it at Universal. It is a good idea since maids can be apprehensive about taking money if it isn't specifically mentioned that it is for them.

But since you're staying at the HRH, how about pictures of rock bands? Or maybe even Nick characters?

I know I probably shouldn't have, but I used the Disney Tip Envelopes that I had left over from our cruise when we stayed at the HRH. I don't the maids are used to getting tips. Ours was so appreciative when I left her an envelope each day that she left us thank you notes. She also left us a very nice thank you note and a pair of robes on our second to last night there, because she her day off was our last night. She said she wanted to give us something to thank us for being nice people to her. I was very touched by this and still have all the thank you notes and the robes. That was the first time I have ever gotten anything from maid service. It is something that I will always remember.

So, how much is everyone tipping for maid service? I am sure it would help others to know. Tipping is confusing for a lot of people. Thanks!!!

I made my own envelopes. We are going in December. I got a good photo of the (cartoon) Grinch and type Happy Wholidays on it and "For Our Maid".

I tip at least $1 per person. There are 4 of us, I usually end up tipping $5 a day.

Great idea! I think I will do that with the kids today. Thanks! :)

We also tip $5 a day for family of 4.

Anyone have anything special happen to them once they left a tip? I know Disney does the towel animal thing. Was just wondering if the maids at the Loews hotels do anything to show their appreciation.

I left $3 a day and I was one very neat person alone in the room. I didn't get anythng special. One day they didn't even replace the soap. The room was cleaned okay just nothing special. I wouldn't expect Disney towel animals and such. I travel regularly for work and always tip and don't expect anything in business hotel so I didn't expect anything extra here. Little extras are nice but don't expect anything but a clean room.

I started this thread before we left and I feel I need to share my experience with the group. I made up legal size envelopes with a Hard Rock logo on it and put something like "For Housekeeping. Thank You" on it. I sat it by the television every day before we left. The first day they took it but did not take it on the next 2 days. Maybe I put it in the wrong place. I don't know. Like prncess674, we didn't receive anything exceptional just a clean room each day. Also there was a day they didn't fully restock the bathrooms with all the amenities and even took the box of empty box of Kleenex, threw it away but didn't replace it. Star Services took care of it however.
