Hey everyone
Just discovered this forum today and thought I'd make a post
I am planning a trip for myself and 2 friends to go to Disneyland Paris in September.
I plan on staying at the Hotel l'Elysée Val d'Europe for 2 nights.
Having looked at the prices (with transportation) on the the Disneyland site, I have decided I would prefer to book the hotel and tickets through the Disneyland site, but to book the flights with Flybe instead.
I was wondering, what is the best way to get a transfer from CDG to the Hotel, and also, is the hotel I plan on staying at a nice hotel? Is the free shuttle service to the Parks reliable? Also, do the rules of "3pm check-in for Disney Hotels" still apply to this hotel?
Hope someone can help me out =]
Thanks
I'm at the l'Elysee Val D'Europe now. The hotel is just okay - the lobby is bright and the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. The hallways smell somewhat like sewage, which is what I read in other reviews. My room smelled a bit like cigarette smoke when I came in. The room itself is small, but not terribly so. I have a standard room and there's a queen bed (seems bigger than a double) and a folding cot already made up. The hotel has wireless internet but I wasn't able to detect a signal, so after spending some time on the phone with the ISP, they gave me a mobile broadband unit.
There's a small TV, a roomy desk (with ethernet jack on the wall and 3 power outlets. there's a small table next to the TV table/desk. There's a good sized closet with a safe inside. The bathroom is bright and clean, with a tub/shower and a hair dryer.
The best way to get to the hotel from CDG is to take the TGV. You'll need to get to the station (I think it's station 2, TGV and RER - it's located in terminal 2F). There will be signs that read "Paris by train" - follow those until you reach one that tells you to go down an escalator. You'll know you are in the right place when you see the purplish/pink escalators that say "SNCF". When you go down the escalator, the ticket office is to the right - the TGV office is clearly marked. A ticket is 17,50 euros.
In my case, the train was leaving from platform 4, so with the TGV office to my right, I went forward and to the left, out the glass doors marked "south" (in French). It seems the odd platforms are north and the even ones are south. Anyway, this area isn't very brightly lit, but you'll see a small yellow/orange machine just in front of the escalator. Insert your ticket to have it stamped before going down the escalator.
Downstairs you'll see monitors that tell which positions to use on the platform. No one asked for my ticket (I expected that on the train, not sure why). Marne-la-Vallee is the first stop. From there you go up the escalator.
From here you'll want to get on the RER line A4. You'll need to get a ticket if you don't already have one - tickets are past the gift shop and all the way to the right. Use your ticket to go through the turnstiles and walk through to the RER station and down to the platform. There's (as far as I know and could tell) only one direction to go, and you get off at the first stop, just a couple of minutes.
From the station, I got directions that sent me the long way around by far, so I'll save advice about how to get to the hotel until later when I see it in the light of day and on the proper route. I won't be using the shuttle since I plan on taking full advantage of early entry hours, and the shuttle doesn't run that early. So I'll be taking the train. I'll let you know how that goes.
Oh, the hotel has wireless internet, but it's 13 euros per 24 hours.
