Hey everyone

Just discovered this forum today and thought I'd make a post

I am planning a trip for myself and 2 friends to go to Disneyland Paris in September.

I plan on staying at the Hotel l'Elysée Val d'Europe for 2 nights.

Having looked at the prices (with transportation) on the the Disneyland site, I have decided I would prefer to book the hotel and tickets through the Disneyland site, but to book the flights with Flybe instead.

I was wondering, what is the best way to get a transfer from CDG to the Hotel, and also, is the hotel I plan on staying at a nice hotel? Is the free shuttle service to the Parks reliable? Also, do the rules of "3pm check-in for Disney Hotels" still apply to this hotel?

Hope someone can help me out =]
Thanks

I'll stay at the last weekend of March, I'll tell you all about when I get back, I know there is a free shuttle every 30 minutes (again I'm going to see if that's true), I guess the hotel is 2 minutes from the RER station and Disneyland is the next stop , so I'll tell you all about it when I get back!! PROMISE!!

OK Thankyou =]

These forums are amazing, I have found a few links with information that is useful for me, but would still prefer a first-hand account of someone's experience, so I can make sure I get it all planned properly.

If you have a look in our very useful information sticky at the top of the page here, under "travelling to DLRP by plane" you'll find lots of information about how to get to DLRP from CDG :)

I will be traveling from CDG to DLP on the 15th and I'm staying at this hotel, too. I'm planning on taking the TGV from the airport to Marne-la-Vallee and then my understanding is that I'll need to transfer from the RER, go back one stop and the hotel is across the street (approximately).

The hotel is a 2-star hotel according to Trip Advisor so I don't have high expectations, but it seems to be fine from what I've read. It has early entry privileges, which is a big plus in my mind!

I'll definitely share my experiences either when I have a chance while I'm traveling or when I return to the US on the 20th. I'll include my thoughts on the hotel AND on the transportation.

I stayed at the Hotel L'Elysee in 2006 we used the RER train service from CDG airport - it took quite a while (just over an hour), you had to swap trains (but the platforms were right next to each other - no stairs involved). It was very reasonable - only a few euros and worked for us as we bought an all day pass as we went into Paris that afternoon. Trains runs every 5-10 mins.

The TGV is a great service - more expensive but the TGV service only takes 10 mins, and then you swap onto the RER for one stop which only takes a couple of mins.

To complicate matters if you have a group travelling you may want to get use a private shuttle - it seems to work out quite reasonable for groups - RS transports have a good reputation on this board :)

The hotel is nice is in a great location across from the train station and Val D' Europe is very pretty, the lobby areas are lovely and the bedrooms are clean and modern. Of course the rooms are smaller than US hotel rooms but ours was a good size with a double bed and sofa bed. We had a great stay at the hotel, and I think its brilliant value especially for visitors wanting to visit Paris as its so easy from this hotel :)

Hey guys thanks for all the responses!

I've done some research and I think I will probably get the TGV to Marne-la-Vallee Chessy Station, and then get the RER A back a stop to Val d'europe. Or as a backup plan, get the VEA shuttle to Chessy Station, then get the PEP's Line 50 to L'Elysee.

I will probably use the RER for getting to Disneyland whilst there as well, unless the free shuttle to the Parks is reliable.

Thanks for all the help guys!
I still wanna see your views of the trip when you all get back to give me an idea about the hotel =]

If you use the VEA the train station is right next door to the bus station - so you could easily use the RER to go back 1 stop.

I found the free shuttle really reliable but they only operate at set times, when you check in they will give you a timetable.:)

Make sure you visit the auchan supermarke in the Val D'Europe shopping centre its huge and great for picking for picking up snacks and drinks as it smuch cheaper than anywhere else nearby :) .

Yeah I was wondering how close the bus station was to the train station. It seems there are plenty of ways to get to the hotel then =]

As far as the free shuttle is concerned, I suppsoe it just depends what time we were planning on going to the Parks, and if there is one at that time. I don't mind spending a few euros on the RER really.

Thanks for the supermarket tip :worship: . I had heard about the shopping centre and am going to try and squeeze in a quick visit during my stay!

I'm at the l'Elysee Val D'Europe now. The hotel is just okay - the lobby is bright and the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. The hallways smell somewhat like sewage, which is what I read in other reviews. My room smelled a bit like cigarette smoke when I came in. The room itself is small, but not terribly so. I have a standard room and there's a queen bed (seems bigger than a double) and a folding cot already made up. The hotel has wireless internet but I wasn't able to detect a signal, so after spending some time on the phone with the ISP, they gave me a mobile broadband unit.

There's a small TV, a roomy desk (with ethernet jack on the wall and 3 power outlets. there's a small table next to the TV table/desk. There's a good sized closet with a safe inside. The bathroom is bright and clean, with a tub/shower and a hair dryer.

The best way to get to the hotel from CDG is to take the TGV. You'll need to get to the station (I think it's station 2, TGV and RER - it's located in terminal 2F). There will be signs that read "Paris by train" - follow those until you reach one that tells you to go down an escalator. You'll know you are in the right place when you see the purplish/pink escalators that say "SNCF". When you go down the escalator, the ticket office is to the right - the TGV office is clearly marked. A ticket is 17,50 euros.

In my case, the train was leaving from platform 4, so with the TGV office to my right, I went forward and to the left, out the glass doors marked "south" (in French). It seems the odd platforms are north and the even ones are south. Anyway, this area isn't very brightly lit, but you'll see a small yellow/orange machine just in front of the escalator. Insert your ticket to have it stamped before going down the escalator.

Downstairs you'll see monitors that tell which positions to use on the platform. No one asked for my ticket (I expected that on the train, not sure why). Marne-la-Vallee is the first stop. From there you go up the escalator.

From here you'll want to get on the RER line A4. You'll need to get a ticket if you don't already have one - tickets are past the gift shop and all the way to the right. Use your ticket to go through the turnstiles and walk through to the RER station and down to the platform. There's (as far as I know and could tell) only one direction to go, and you get off at the first stop, just a couple of minutes.

From the station, I got directions that sent me the long way around by far, so I'll save advice about how to get to the hotel until later when I see it in the light of day and on the proper route. I won't be using the shuttle since I plan on taking full advantage of early entry hours, and the shuttle doesn't run that early. So I'll be taking the train. I'll let you know how that goes.

Oh, the hotel has wireless internet, but it's 13 euros per 24 hours.

We stayed there in Sept and found it to be quiet nice for the price. We also had the EMH witht his hotel. Also the huge shopping mall is right next to it.

In the light of day, it's easy to see how I messed up last night. I came out of the station on the wrong side. If I'd gone out the right way (follow the signs for Sortie 1 - Serris) I'd have seen that the hotel was across the street and a little bit to the right from the station.

Thanks Tara for all the information, I will be staying there for the first time in August.
