We booked a room for June 16-22 at the Embassy Suites South. After reviewing some of the info on this board, we are a little concerned that it might be too far out. It will be me, DH and Ds3. We are aware that it is too far to walk and we'll have to rely on the ART shuttle or rental car. Is anyone familiar with how well the ART shuttle works from this hotel? Has anyone stayed this far away and still made it to the gates 30 minutes before opening? :confused3 Any info you could give us on this hotel or the ART shuttle is greatly appreciated. TIA!

I've stayed at Embassy Suites South twice. The first time, we stayed there because family members were staying there. My family had no trouble with ART, although I don't think they were able to get there a full 1/2 before opening. You should be able to check the ART schedules online. We had AAA free parking, so we drove so that we got to the parking garage just it opened 1/2 hour before opening or EE. This got us to the gates in time to get pretty close up in line before opening. We ended up driving the second trip as well (long story; ART is probably a better way to go).

The reason we stayed twice at Embassy Suites is because they comp'ed us a free night after our first stay. We weren't real happy with the room (too noisy because it was right next to the elevator) or the service (we had to wait quite a while for our room and the desk clerk was less than polite when checking us in and when we inquired about the possibility of moving to a quieter room). It's a nice place if you want a suite room and like to take advantage of the breakfast and/or evening reception. It's probably nicer than most of the places within walking distance other than the Disney properties. There are a few nice places with their own shuttles. Other than those, if you are going to end up taking ART anyway, it's plenty close.

We love the Embassy Suites and have stayed there several times - the only negative for us is the distance.

Because we have a 2 yo I don't like the idea of her riding unrestrained in the ART so what we do is just pay to park. DH drops me & DD off at the passenger drop off on Harbor along with the stroller, then he goes and parks the car at Mickey & Friends. Meanwhile we walk in and depending on how long the lines are we might play a bit and then get in line or get in line right away.

Usually I get to the front of the line before he's arrived so I have to let a few people go ahead of me but he then joins me at the front of the line and we walk in together (he calls on the cell when he approaches the security booths). Sometimes just me and DD will go in and spend some time meeting the characters in the front while DH parks and then he'll meet us.

You are spending more $$ for parking but you have the security of your son being in his car seat and you can get there as early as you want. Then if I take DD back to the hotel for a nap or if DH does, and the other parent wants to shop or walk around, the other one of us will take the ART back to the hotel later.

I wonder if you could rebook your hotel using AAA (if you have AAA) and get the free parking?

I'll be at this hotel May 8-12. It will be myself and another adult with no children. Is it really too far to walk to Disneyland? If it is we'll have to use ART.

Thanks

I cannot imagine walking from ES. It would eat up time, and your feet will be plenty tired from all the walking at DL. Take the ART.

We have stayed here and we really have had awsome times here. The ART comes early enough, they start at 7:15 every day and come right to the front door. This place offers a great breakfast every morning and a managers reception every day around 4:30, so if you need a little something to calm the nerves after a day out, well what can you say to freebies.Theres a restraunt in the hotel and a great Itlian restraunt out front, this has the best pasta anywhere.Like I said we have always had good service and good times here, I am sure you will to.:tinker: :mickeyjum

I stayed at the Hampton which is virtually next door.

We walked a few times, but it was a long one.

The ART is easy. Route K.

Thank you all so much for your responses. It really helps to get info from those with experience and it puts my mind at ease. Someone else posted that the ART shuttle stops running during the lunch hour. :confused3 Is this during off season only or is it all the time? Does any one have any more info about this? We were hoping the ART would be convenient enough to go back to the hotel from 12:30-4:00. It will be very necessary with a 3 yo and all the 1st time Disney excitement to take an afternoon nap break! ;) Thanks for all your help!

the link for ART is www.rideart.org.

ART used to close down for an hour in the early afternoon, but I don't see anything on the website to indicate that they still do. This is a busy week, so perhaps they still do shut down for an hour during less busy times. You should be able to find out the schedule so you can plan your afternoon break accordingly.

They still take lunch breaks and shift change can cost you at least an hour. Just ask the driver, they will tell you when.
