I'm going crazy trying to figure out where to stay. We are driving from NC. I would like to have a hotel located along I-4 that is just north of Universal that we can stay in our first night and last night. I know nothing about the area and don't want to end up in a not so great area. Any suggestions?

You might want to just go on down to International Dr. Dozens of hotels there within a mile or so of Universal. I stayed in a Hampton Inn that was terrible, but I've stayed many times in a wonderful Homewood Suites and also a couple of times in a nice Residence Inn. No shortage of lodging there.

There really isn't a "bad" area. But of coarse, you always need to use common sense with your valuables.

There are hotels right across the street from USF that are budget priced. Just depends what you are looking for. That's why I made my sites.

Look at the Directions to Publix, and HGI site for info and an idea of the area.
On my next trip, I'll have to go across the street and take more pictures. Hotels that come to mind are
Holiday Inn, Amerisuites, Double Tree, Sleep Inn, Best Western, Hampton Inn, and the HGI to the south.

I stay at the holiday inn on universal blvd. the address is 8214 Universal blvd, orlando florida It is exactly two miles from the enterance to universal. Each room has two queen beds with refrig., and microwave. If you go to holiday inns website. www.priorityclub.com you can get this hotel with the entertainment rate of 54.50 per night with tax it is only 61.00 dollars a night. They have a breakfast buffet in the mornings that you must pay for but the kids eat free. The pool is small but nice. they have washers and dryers that work out pretty well.

If you are wanting a little more space you can book their suites . They come with a working kitchen , seperate living space, bedroom, and bath of course. I think it cost about 130. per night for them. but to reserve this room you must go to the hotels own website www.avistahotel.com

There are plenty of restaurants just behind the hotel within walking distance. Plus a grocery store. definetly a plus in my book.
