We can stay at several hotels. We have done the Tropicana and while we want to be across the street again we were not super impressed by the room we had and would love to try another hotel for our May trip. I know these are across the street as well and around the same price. Any opinions? We would like a decent size room and the pool is not important.

Thank you! :cheer2:

Stay at HoJo for the Entertainment book rate. There's a ton of dates for May-- you can get a standard for $59, deluxe room for $69, or a premium for $79 a night. Big, comfy room and beautiful grounds, great staff, very clean. It's one block up but if you cross at Manchester the difference between it and the "crosswalk hotels" is literally 5 minutes' walk. It's as close as DLH.

Hope that helps! :)

Thank you! We are doing the Alaska kids fly free package and HOJO on there is the same price as the other hotels across the street. Do you know if there is a way to book this package and still get the ent. rate or a refund from them? :)

We have stayed at Carousel and had a great stay but that was in 2006 so may have changed. Recent reviews haven't been so good but we would still consider them. Camelot has had a lot of good reviews recently so would definitely consider them as well, BWPPI is the closest to the crosswalk and also gets good reviews.

We just got back from staying at HoJo and loved it! I had the Deluxe room (was $59 now $69) and we were in building 2 near the garden pool. I requested the upgraded mattresses and bedding and adjoining rooms when I made my reservations and when I confirmed, I made sure those requests were still in the system.

We were on the 2nd floor which is really ground level and had a little balcony thingy overlooking the pool. My whole family loved the beds and pillows. They were super comfy and everyone slept really well.

We had a micro and fridge in our room and that was really nice for breakfast. Also a table and 3 chairs - two at the table and one at the desk. I was surprised at how big the rooms were - my mom could drive in and plug the ECV in with no problem at all.

Just a side note - they never once asked for my Entertainment card - although I had it with me and we paid the Entertainment rate anyway! Have one just in case - they *may* ask you for it. :confused3

Did you already book the Alaska package? If not, check what it would cost to book separately. The problem with Alaska's "kids fly free" package is that usually they really don't-- because the adults are charged for a higher ticket price. Are you flying out of SeaTac? You can usually get airfare for 80-100 each way, if you fly into Long Beach airport.

So just check to see what the cost would be if you booked your airfare separately on the best deal possible. Then figure in your hotel costs (HoJo at the Ent rate) and the cost of your tickets. Chances are you'll save hundreds by booking separately. We've done it both ways (flying Alaska each time) and even with Kids Fly Free, we saved tons by booking separately.

I am going to check into the separate prices for sure. You are right, there have been times we have saved a lot of money doing it separate. Right now Alaska is offering $200 off our package due to their anniversay if we book before Jan. 15th which is why I was checking out their packages first. Thanks again!!! :thumbsup2

If you can't get the Hojo, I can definitely recommend the BWPPI. It doesn't have the lovely grounds and nice pool area of the Hojo at all, but its nice and clean, the rooms are spacious and updated, and the free breakfast while not wonderful, will save you some money. To me the biggest downfall of the BWPPI is the small pool area. Its sort of dreary and very small. Nowhere near as nice as the Tropicana's pool either for that matter. But I love their junior suites!

If you do want a little bigger room the BWPPI has their "mini-suites" which are 2 queen beds and a queen sofa bed. We always like staying there.

We always book our trips separately. I have tried a few times to see if I could find a package cheaper than what I could arrange myself, and it has never really even been close.
