DH and I are coming for our first trip to California. We will have three days for LA area sightseeing, then 4.5 days at Disneyland. Our flight from the east coast arrives at LAX at 12:42 AM. I'm hoping to get some sleep on the plane, but that will feel like 3:42 to us. We do need a rental car and are thinking Alamo so we can drop it off in Dowmtown Disney. Can somebody recommend a hotel for that first night preferably not too far from LAX as I don't want to drive very far after working all day and then flying all night.

Thanks!
Kristin

We like the Sheraton Gateway. They have a shuttle and a full Starbucks in the lobby. But there are lots of hotels that will be fine for one night. If you belong to a loyalty program, just about all the name brand chains are near LAX. Look for a hotel with a shuttle to take you back in the morning to rent your car.

I understand not wanting to drive at what will be 4AM to you, but the trip to DLR from LAX at 1:30AM will be a quick 20/25 minutes. If you stay the night at LAX you'll hit traffic and turn that trip into over an hour. In LA traffic. But you do need to be safe.

On the less expensive side there is a Travelodge close by with shuttles. Sheraton Gateway is a good choice. There is a Hyatt called The Concourse that I would recommend.

Thanks for the recommendations. We are arriving on Saturday and not going to DLR until Tuesday. We are trying to figure out if we should stay near the airport that night or get the car then and drive to another hotel. We don't have our plans made for those first days. It is both or our first time in California. We would like to see somethings in Hollywood and other nearby sights before DLR.

I'd just pick a hotel on Century with a car rental attached or next door and take the hotel shuttle in the morning and walk to pick up the rental after a few hours.
