Hi all!

We are planning on leaving MI around 5 a.m. tomorrow - I must have miscalculated because that puts us in Orlando around 1-2 a.m., WAY before our 4 p.m. check in (private home).

My thought is to get a hotel room for the morning to have somewhere to relax, get some sleep before we get to the house.

Would this make sense? Or are we better off just pushing back our departure time?

Perhaps you should compare the cost of changing your airline reservations to the cost of a hotel rrom for one night. With many airlines charging $100 or more per ticket to change these days, the hotel room may be more economical.

From looking at your times, I am assuming you are driving. Are you planning on driving straight through? Personally I would plan on stopping somewhere over night if it looks like you are going to be arriving at 1 or 2 am. That way you will be refreshed and ready to go when you arrive in Orlando.

I would stop and get some sleep in either Chatanooga, TN, or perhaps the Atlanta area if you want to drive a bit further. From Atlanta it's a short hop down to Orlando.

We are also driving from MI and we usually stop south of Atlanta. This makes for a nice arrival in Orlando the following day.

Have a safe drive and a great trip!

We're going too, but not until June 11th. Another option is to check with your rental...if they're not booked for the day before they might let you check in during the night...depends on where the keys are located I guess. Mine is in a lockbox at the condo so I check in when I get there. I have driven several times also and we always stop right near the GA/FL border...

Have a Great time...we're leaving in 33 days and can't wait!

We are from the Chicago area, and we have driven to Florida twice. We have found that stopping at Macon, GA which is about an hour south of Atlanta or something like that. Is a good stop. It is right around the area in which you get onto I75 or whatever the road is that you are on for like 300 miles.

If looking for a cheap hotel room, maybe give Priceline.com or Hotwire.com a shot...

I used Hotwire yesterday and got a 3.5 star hotel night for $89 (ended up being Hotel Royal Plaza in DTD). There were several cheaper hotel options for my check-in day as well in the lower star categories.

We are leaving Lansing on May 28 and will leave Orlando on June 10. We're hoping the gas prices drop as we drive South!

Have a great trip and safe driving!!

I have found that Valdosta and Tifton, both GA, have decent motels at very reasonable prices.
