Hi,

After much debate we are finally going to venture away from, as Universal puts it "pixie dust and fairy tales" and stay for 2 nights at Universal.

I have 2 kids who love the water. Any suggestions on which hotel might be better suited...it looks like one has a water slide and a previous post mentioned zero-depth but wasn't sure.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeannine

We have stayed at all 3 and this would be my preference for the pool area
1-HRH
2-RPR
3-PBH

The HRH pool is zero depth entry with a slide and a great theme.

My almost 11 y/o loves the Royal Pacific Pool. We visited the Hard Rock Hotel two summers ago and used the pool. Yes there is a waterslide there. To be honest, my then almost 9 y/o only went down a couple of times, I think she was a bit afraid because it is very long. Your children might be different though. The Royal Pacific has zero depth entry and it's very tropical and beautiful, it also has a big white boat at one end with a water play area.

PS....I love that Universal commercial, really gets me in the mood for my vacation...but where is it that you can eat and throw your stuff on the floor? My husband always asks me that when we see the commercial, does it really exist??

If they are going to want to do a slide, i would pick the Hard rock. We also really like the Portofino's slide, much quieter, pool area though. You can always stay at one and hop over to the other one.

My 6 and 10 yo boys stayed at the Hard Rock last year and loved the pool area. They enjoyed the slide and the volleyball area, the nachos and mozzarella sticks poolside as well. To be honest, it's all they talked about during the trip and kept asking all year when we were going back! They will get their wish the end of August! Enjoy

We are staying at the RPR, but from what I have heard the HRH has a great pool. From what I understand, you are allowed and even encouraged to pool hop at Universal, so try all the pools.

All 3 hotel pools have zero depth entry.

The RPR pool is the largest. It does not have a slide but does have the water play area with water guns and waterfalls, etc.. It is a huge lagoon pool. At one end there is a volleyball net where there always seems to be a game going on. It is very tropical and very relaxing but can get crowded which is ok because it is so huge. There is a beach area with sand.

The HRH pool has a slide, beach area, water basketball, loud music playing (even under water). This pool is more shallow than RPR. In fact where the slide comes out, be careful not to hit the bottom.

The beach pool at PBH has a beach area, a slide and is normally not crowded. My kids said they liked the slide here better than the HRH. It has an area where you can swim under bridges and a waterfall. I went down the slide several times and never hit the bottom.

All the pools are wonderful and yes, you can pool hop!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I don't know that it will be easier to make a choice since all 3 hotels sound great, but now we know what we have to choose from.
