I have seen a couple of posts mentioning deals by booking with American Express. Where do you find out about Disneyland hotel deals. We are considering a trip in 2003 and have the option of using Disney Vacation points, but if a cash rate is reasonable, I would prefer that to using up all my points. I have never seen one spot that lists DL hotel deals, is there one?

Also, it does not seem to matter as much to stay on property at DL as it does at WDW. Am I wrong in thinking this?

RweTHEREyet,

No, I don't think it's important to stay onsite at DL. We stayed at the DL Hotel this summer, then switched to the Candy Cane Inn. We like the CCI much better and it was much less expensive.

The DL resort is not themed like the WDW resorts are. There are no perks that I could see. You don't need transportation because it's an easy walk...

We have been WDW fans for years. We visited DL this summer and loved it-we are going back to Southern California next summer. The weather was much nicer than Florida in the summer. Many rides at the parks are the same as WDW, but there are enough different rides that it's not boring if you do WDW all the time.

We are staying at The Fairfield Inn Anaheim next year. We got a rate of $74.00/night. I checked around a lot and found many hotels right outside the gate for under $100.00 night. I have seen many people getting great rates using Priceline, but I want to pick my own hotel. Mouseplanet.com has information about nearby hotels.

It almost as easy to stay off site at Disneyland though I disagree about the Disneyland hotel. It really isn;t themed on the outside but I loved the room there. It is very big and decorated nicely. The Grand California Hotel is themed as well as any at WDW and is located "in" DCA. We loved our stay there. The Paradise Pier Hotel is okay to.
I also love the Candy Cane Inn and it is less expensive. There are alot of places that are fine and with in a 5-7 minute walk of the parks and are alot less money. I go back and forth between the Disney hotels and the off site motels depending on my budget and the prices at the Disney Hotels.
