One of the people in our party has mobility problems (bad back :sad1:). Do you think I should book somewhere like Park Vue Inn which I understand is right by the crossing to DLR and we could just walk backwards and forwards to hotel and Disney. Or do you think it would be better to stay at a hotel that has a shuttle? Does the shuttle take you right up closer to the gates?

I would really appreciate your help.

The only motel that I know of that has it's shuttle is Candy Cane Inn. There may be a 'few' others, but they are far and few between. :confused3

The Anaheim Sheraton (the castle looking one) has a dedicated shuttle and yes, the shuttle would drop you off much closer to the gates than walking. I believe it runs every 1/2 hour but people who have stayed there have great things to say about the rooms and the fact that they never seem to wait for the shuttle.

I've always had good luck with the Candy Cane Inn. It's a farther walk then the properties across the street but the shuttle will drop you off right in front. The rooms at the Candy Cane are nicely decorated and comfortable, but a bit small.
The Candy Cane and the Sheraton that looks like a castle are the only properties with their own shuttle. The other properties are on the ART bus/shuttle system.
Personally I think the Candy Cane would be good match because if some your party wants to walk it's not too far, and the shuttle can drop the person with bad back right near the gates.

I haven't stayed at the Candy Cane, (soon though), however I have stayed at the Anaheim Sheraton and loved their shuttle. It was prompt and always on time. We would plan our morning to coincide with the schedule.

Somegirl is correct - the Anaheim Sheraton is not easily walkable so if you also want walkability (is that a word??) and a dedicated shuttle, then the Candy Cane Inn is a better choice.

How will the person with the bad back deal with stairs getting into and out of the shuttle? I'd ask them, really, to see what really sets off their problems. Is it walking, or is it standing, or sitting, or getting up from sitting, from stairs, etc etc.

And if it is walking or standing, you might want to look into either a wheelchair or ECV rental.

Thanks for the replies. You guys are just so awesome!

We won't need a wheelchair. It's just that after walking for a full day at the parks I'm just trying to eliminate a little more walking at the end of the day for her.

Thanks for the help.

Hyatt Regency also has its own shuttle. Never stayed at Candy Cane but it always gets great reviews.
