Every time I been before I never bothered about having a late one in the hotel bar, in fact to be honest with you I didn’t even think Disney Hotel’s had bars in the hotel. Anyway this trip I have my father-in-law with me and he a bit of an old traditionalist in that his holidays has to have a night or 2 that involve going to a bar for a wee drink, without the kids or the woman folk ;).

1) Has Animal Kingdom Lodge even got a bar that’s not in a restaurant? Can't find anything to say yes or no.

2) If it has, what are the prices like? And do they have pints?

3) If it’s not, is Downtown Disney the best bet? Will there be a bus direct from the hotel and will they bring us back in the early hours or do they stop at a certain time?

Don’t get me know I am not planning on getting leg less :rotfl2: with him, it be a relaxing drink after the kids have gone to bed and a hard days walking the park :cool1: before hitting the hay to start all over again.

Sorry I should have maybe posted this in the Disney Resorts board, mind you do US folk know what a pint is..

Yes, there is a really nice quite space just above the restaurant area at AKL where you can have a drink and sit comfortably in leather arm chairs. Send the kids off for an hour to explore the hotel before dinner, or settle them down to listen to an African folk tale in one of the lounges off the lobby and have a quiet drink there.

The South African wine is really nice, if that's your tipple, but spirits and beer are also available.

There is also a pool bar at AKL (the hotels great by the way).
Downtown disney buses stop at 12.00 but you can get a bus from P.I. at 2.00 am (this August?)

Hi there,

DH enjoyed a number of pints in the AKL bar this August. It's called Victoria Falls and is a pleasant spot, overlooking Boma (one of the restaurants).

DH sampled some nice South African beer which was from memory approx $7 to $8 a go.

We loved AKL. Fantastic resort!

The bars are the best bit! The Victoria Falls lounge is great - between the lobby and Boma.

LOL yeah well it was 3rd trip before I found out some parks sell beer, never looked because I read a thing about Magic Kingdom not selling beer so I just thought every park was the same, mind you in the Florida sun shine last thing you wants a beer to be honest.

Funny story, my wife was not old enough to drink in Disney last 3 times we have been, heck I was even ID the first time. They ID her every time however on the 3rd trip we brought along her 2 younger sisters 8 and 10, my wife was 20 at the time.. they took one look at the four of us in restaurants and instantly thought it was "mom" and "dad" with 2 daughters, had to laugh the amount of times people said stuff like you have very polite daughters and so on.. had to tell the kids that the restaurants gave us a free desert if you bring your kids so they would play along with us being mum and dad ;)
