For this vacation, we are flying in a day early for our cruise but want to use the Disney Transfers. We don't want to rent a car therefore are considering staying at the hotel at the airport. I do not remember it's name but it is attached to the airport.

Has anyone done this before or has information that they'd like to share with me?

Thanks!
Rae

Hi Rae,
That would be the hyatt, although you can get a lot of good deals via priceline/hotwire for hotels near the airport that have free shuttles. We got the Amerisuites Norwest (very clean excellent free breakfast) for 39.00 plus 10 fee last year. The hyatt although convient is very pricey! The ameriuites was about five mins away and has a continuous free shuttle

AnnMorin!

You never cease to amaze me! Thanks so much! I think Mom and Michael are favoring the Hyatt because there are so many things to do at the Airport (shop (Mom), ride the monorail shuttle (Michael).
I like the idea of Amerisuites Norwest - will check them out and see if I can sway the 2/3 of our group over!

; )

I just sent you some more info about how to check it out on priceline :)
Micheal would really like the Amerisuites (my Michael did :) ) as they have an old fashioned popcorn machine in the lobby that he can get free popcorn at night from.

Free popcorn! You just hit Michael's hot button!
I'll get right over to your e-mail - thanks!

We stayed at the Marrriot Airport (same area as Amerisuites) thru priceline for $27. plus fees.

A true bargain. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet area.

Thanks hercamore -
By the way, I loved the picture of your beagle and the tag lines!

I bought a front plate for my parents car years ago that says, "I'm spending my children's inheritance" - as an only child, I think that was okay for me to do! ; )

Fair warning.

The airport Marriott is beyond security. You won't be able to go ride the monorail once you have left Security to go get your luggage.

CarolA - I could just hug you! Do you know that now I can honestly tell Michael we can't go back to ride it?! HURRAH!~ Considering how many times he had us on the Buzz Lightyear Ride at WDW this past December, I was already feeling tired out!

What about the shop hours? If I won't lie to my son, you know I certainly won't lie to my Mom!!!!

Thanks!
Rae

The Buzz lightyear ride must be a "michael" thing :) Our son would have us run right over to get a fast pass the second we got off it, I swear I rode that ride more times than the monorail to get to the parks :)

In regards to the stores,I would think they are open like most airports, starting about 6:30-7:00am and open until like 10pm. Note this is a guess however, I am just basing it on our airport back home here.

We did the night before the cruise and the night before we fly out through Priceline. Bid for 3* and got the Airport Renaisance Mariott for $38 and the Sheraton Suites at the Airport for $48.

If your thinking about bidding on Priceline check out Biddingfortravel.com first. Don't bid for less than a 3* (they have airport shuttles). If there are 3 of you and you are going to need 2 beds - call the hotel after your bid gets accepted and request to have 2 beds.

Although we haven't stayed at the AmeriSuites near MCO, we
have stayed in 4 different AmeriSuites locations and a big plus for
my two kids has been Nintendo in the suites. (Extra fee, of
course but a great bonus.) Also, they offer a very nice continental
breakfast in the morning. Most locations have "Make your own
waffles" stations which my kids like a lot.

Thanks all for the great suggestions.

AnnMorin - Ohh, so you have a Michael also in your life - I completely understand the "running us over" part!!!
We didn't know that his birthmother had already chosen his name until after we named him. I thought it was a very poor decision on the part of the adoption agency to withhold that information from us. I certainly would have honored at least one of the two names (if not both) that she had selected for him. Although she has all our information, she has chosen not to correspond since the first two months we had him. I am seeing that as a positive sign of her comfort level.

Going over now to see the Wonder depart -

Rae, you honor the birth mother simply by being such a good mother to Michael! I am sure your little angel is smiling down from heaven so proud of her mama! :)

Thanks Ann - I completely empathize with both adoptive and birth mothers because I can see how much love it takes to place a child. Without being preachy, it is the hardest thing a woman can do - give birth then select a family who will raise the child.

Kayla better be proud of me! It's a lot of work not to fall into the valley of depression. I wouldn't wish a child's death on anyone but it is survivable, you just have to work hard all the time. I have to remember that she was alive many more days than the one she died on. Back when we adopted her, we didn't get to meet her birthmother and it took a long time for me to find the woman -even harder to give the news to (I used a third party for that).
At least we met Michael's birthmother and spent a long time with her getting to know the things she felt were important for Michael to know, etc, etc. Just a very brave lady who will always be welcomed in our lives.
