I would have to agree that the PPH is definately NOT a value resort in any way.
Technically, based on accomodations/perks/guest services & benefits, all three DLR hotels would be classified as deluxe resorts, even at WDW.
GCH is the DL version of an ultra deluxe, like the Grand Floridian is at WDW.
DLH and PPH would be more in line with something like the Contemporary at WDW. (All are older properties that lack the in-your-face-elaborate-over-the-top theming, other than the Neverland pool which is elborately themed, but they are still great places to stay with nice pools/slides, deluxe perks, and offer some spectacular park views.)
Hopefully Disney will manage a LARGE moderate level hotel/resort over at the new Garden Walk. I can hardly wait for that to happen. Hopefully, from this location, they'll include free scheduled transportation to the parks too.
Any of the DLR hotels are wonderful for families, but the GCH and the DLH are more conveniently located.
One thing though.....whenever we stay at the DLH or PPH, as we walk by GCH, we start thinking "Boy, I sure wish we were staying there!"

It really is a very beautiful hotel literally steps away from DL, DCA, and DTD. We just can't swallow the price tag though, so we've never stayed there yet.
