So DBF and I are headed to DLR in November. He hasn't been in years and I this will be my first time staying on property.

With his CM discount, we can stay in a theme park view room (all that's left for CM prices) at PPH or at DLH for $66 less (standard view). Which should we pick? I'm leaning towards PPH because it's newer, but I wouldn't mind saving the money if it's the same distance to the parks in the morning. We do plan on going back to the hotel for siesta every afternoon and taking advantage of MM.

Suggestions?

I also wanted to know what people think of the holiday tour? Should we go for it or do a different one? DBF would like to do some behind the scenes stuff and I'm in it for the ornament and hot chocolate. Photos will also be appreciated.

TIA!:worship:

When you have time, come join our Disney at Christmas super thread. We have several people in that thread who have done the tour and some of them posted photos of the parade from the reserved seats that you get with the tour, as well as explained what happens on the tour and what exactly you get.

Tksbaskets, 3Minnies1Mickey, Mariezp, mvf-m11c, Aussietravellers and others in that thread have all done the tour.

Plus, there are so many other wonderful photos in the Christmas thread to see!!

As for the PPH and the DLH - I have stayed at the DLH a lot in the past, but I have stayed at the PPH many times much more recently. I like it. It's kind of small compared to the other 2 DLR hotels. There's not much to it - not a lot of property to walk around on - but it has a cute sun/beach/surf theme and cute Mickey bath products in the bathroom. In my TR (link below in signature), two of the trips in the TR involved PPH stays. One of them was not good, but the other one was fine. Most of my PPH stays have been fine. It was just one time where we got a crazy room!!

It will be a bit of a gamble. Heres why. The DLH is being remodled. A lot of the Standard views are in the old rooms. So that offer may stick you with an old room instead of one of the brand new remodled rooms. It's a bit of a gamble. Also Sherry noted the limted ground at the PPH but do consider that DLH are also being redone.

I'm not sayint you should go with PPH, in fact I wouldn't myself.

PPH is a bit further away.

I enjoyed the Holiday Tour. Besides having the tour guide explain different traditions and decorations for the various 'lands', you also get fudge samples, hot chocolate in a travel mug, a cookie or rice crispy treat (whichever they are doing that year) and a place to sit and watch the parade. You get on Haunted Mansion, (NBC version), take the train from New Orleans Square to Toon Town, enjoy It's a Small World (Christmas edition). Oh, and you get a special pin too.

Just be aware that none of the tours at Disneyland are 'behind the scenes'. So, if you're looking for something like WDW's "Keys to the Kingdom Tour", it doesn't exist at Disneyland.
