Hotel Advice - Great Pool Area

My hubby and I are traveling to DL in April, and I want to make the trip pretty special since he's in the Canadian Military and we don't see each other often - we're celebrating him finishing Basic Training!

I want to stay in a nice hotel, within walking distance (neither of us are afraid of a walk), with a great pool area. I considered the HOJO but we're not there during entertainment book rates and I have a feeling although they have a great pool there will be tons of kids (not that I'm going to DL expecting there to be no kids, just looking for a more adult experience). We don't want to stay on property but within a mile would be good. The properties I'm considering now are:

1. Fairfield
2. Portofino
3. Sheraton Park Hotel
4. HOJO (?)

I'm open to suggestions, also would like to have free WIFI and breakfast, but these aren't deal-breakers.

TIA for the advice!

Also consider the Hilton and Candy Cane. The Candy Cane can be very nice, and premium rooms they bring breakfast to you in a basket. It is very nice. Hilton has a breakfast option you can add to your room and the breakfast is quite nice. Both are a little more adult like in the pool areas, though the Hilton does have a kids pool area.

The Sheraton Park only gives free internet if you are a Gold (starting next month) or higher with Starwood Preferred Guest or if you are using the computers in the lobby. A free breakfast is available only if you have a Club level room. If you have SPG points, you can upgrade to Club for 1000 points per night. The pool area is pleasant and hotel is nice. My DH and I walk to DL from here all the time and he's had a knee replacement! -- Suzanne

First of all, as a fellow Canadian, I want to thank your husband and you too, for his service to our country. Congratulations to him for completing his basic training. I wish him well on his future career.

You don't mention the dates you are going in April but keeping checking the Hojo Entertainment Rate page as there are some dates in April listed and they do add and remove dates based on their availability. I just booked at Hojo this morning for the Entertainment rate as they added a bunch of dates for the time we are going to be there this month. I had already booked at the Ramada but this will save us some money even without a breakfast.

Thanks for the kind words - although he is just in basic training he's been enrolled for a year and a half in a school program for the Navy, I'm very proud of him!

I'd be happy to pay for breakfast at Mimi's every morning if I got the entertainment card rate at the HOJO! We're going from April 15-19, and it seems the rates for April don't start until the end of the month.

I did consider Candy Cane Inn as well, but had read that the pool is very small. We like to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon at the pool and would like it to be a nice one!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, keep em coming!
