Hot weather survival tips?

So I swore I would never travel south in the summer and here we are (myself, DH and DS5) booked at CSR for Aug 14-21! We do not do heat well and am wondering if any of you have strategies for managing hot days in the parks.

We have gone to WDW many times in summer. We carried a water bottle with us, filled it up with ice only every morning, every time we bought food, we asked for ice water which is free, whatever was left we poured into the waterbottle, we also carried a spray bottle that has a fan on it. WDW sells them but we always brought one from home because they are much less expensive and don't forget to bring extra batteries for the fan.

If you're going to get the tap water and refill a bottle consider the Brita sports bottles they sell that have a filter in the part you suck the water out of to help remove some of the taste. Also consider bringing those little flavor sticks they sell to make some of the water iced tea, fruit punch, lemonade etc. You really need to drink about 1 cup of water per hour when out in the summer sun in the humidity down there, but there comes a point when you simply don't want to. The flavor sticks help it go down easier (although they're obviously not compatable with the brita filter bottles).

Bring at least 2 and possibly 3 pairs of shoes for each person. That lets you completely dry the sweat/water out of each pair before you have to wear it again. Soggy shoes are havoc on the feet. You may want to bring BodyGlide anti-chafing stuff along too. It goes on like solid deodorant and helps reduce skin irritation. The hot wet sticky tends to make that first. Works great on the feet, and also anyplace clothing might rub - bra straps, bra underwires, thighs etc.

The nice thing about going in the summer is that when you go into the shops or get insdie for the rides, it's heaven :littleangel:

Take advanatge of evening EMH's since night time is much more bearable than mid day.
