One of my labs thought it was not only a good idea to go outside and eat poop but an even better idea to come back in and yak it on my beige carpeting...:furious::headache::crazy2:

I cleaned it multiple times with my steam cleaner and special cleaner but there was still a noticeable stain:

I read about the "amazing" cleaning power of ammonia and water plus steam and since I was at wit's end, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. This morning, I mixed equal parts hot water and lemon scented ammonia, sprayed it on the stain, put a white rag over it and ironed with my iron on hottest steam. It worked!!!!! :cool1:

In the picture you can still see a bit but in person, it is gone. Un-freakun-believable...the black lab's life is spared...;)

You know works even better? Hardwood floors (or tile). ;)

Glad you got the stain out. I know how tricky pet stains can be...which is why I wait for the day when we can tear out our light gray carpeting and go with wood. My big lummox of a lab as become accident prone. He has a pinched nerve in his back and he often can't feel when he has to poop, so it will just fall out of him when he gets up from his naps.

Believe me, were it my choice, there wouldn't be a fiber of carpeting in the house! We finally pulled out the old carpet in our bedroom and put in lovely dark laminate and I LOVE it. I have a little shark vac I can run over it in five minutes and use a damp Swiffer every so often.

Unfortunately, our oldest lab hates the floor and I had to buy to small area rugs just so she would walk in the room...the things we do for our dogs!

I'll have to remember that trick:thumbsup2. As for the hardwood, our downstairs is all hardwood with a small area rug in each room. Will our puppy yack or have an accident somewhere on the 80% uncarpeted floor? NO, what fun would that be :rotfl:.

My mom swears by a mixture of hot water, ammonia, and hydrogen peroxide. You need to mix it up as needed (it doesn't keep) and dampen the carpet with it. Let sit for a few minutes, then blot with a clean dry cloth.

She uses this concoction when her cats throw up on the carpet- comes right out every time!
