Hot Tub Hopping

I'm guessing Disney doesn't allow other resort guests to swim in a different resorts pools (i.e. ASM guests can't go to AKL and swim) I just realized that ASM DOESN'T HAVE ANY HOT TUBS! That's a pretty high price to pay to not get and breakfast and no hot tubs. Does anyone else feel this way? Or maybe I'm just a poor college kid. I'm still excited though.

You are correct on the pool hopping. You can only hop between the pools at your resort and your sister resorts - all the All Stars are sisters. If you want to swim at a different resort, you need to be a guest at that resort. So start saving your pennies for your next trip.

None of the onsite hotels offer free breakfast unless you are staying concierge which offers continental selections.

I paid $49/night the last time I stayed in a value resort and I thought that was a pretty good price to stay onsite at WDW; free breakfast & hot tub or not... It cost me triple that for the one night I spent at the airport hotel in Boston before leaving...

You can always pick up a cheap pastry in the food court. Or book a moderate. Depending on when you go, mods are not that much more per night, esp if you have AAA or some other form of discount.

Unfortunately, that's Disney onsite for you. The resorts are very nicely themed, and it's a magical place; however, even a Value Resort isn't cheap, considering if you want cheap, it's right outside the gates.

If hot tub is important to you, check into upgrading to Coronado Springs. It has a big hot tub, and it was clean. My last trip to the Contemporary, the hot tub was murky and dirty looking.

You get what you pay for, and IMHO the cost of the All Stars and Pop is right about target with budget "resorts" (think The Mountain Road Resort at Stowe or the Pepper Tree in Santa Barbara) in most of the US.

If it was truly a budget "motel" (ala Red Roof or Motel 6) there would be no pool, no transportation to the parks, no on site food, and you'd have to schlep your own luggage

It is expensive considering some of the offsite hotels which offer continental breakfast and hot tubs. There are perks of WDW that you recieve when you stay on-site. It depends on your wallet and your taste to decide which choice is better for your family. The perks are what I really enjoy. I like the transportation, themes of the resorts, early entry, package delivery, and the overall atmosphere. It just "feels" more magical to me. I know people who disagree, and think that I spend too much money to stay on property. It is all personal taste. Of course you are asking this question on a "fan" site!!!

I agree with you all. I wish that I was with AAA $100.00 a night is a lot to me. It's all relative though. It will just have to work, it's either that or pay an extra $380.00 for a rental car. The Disney experience will be worth it though.

PS: Hows their security anyway?

Disney security is pretty good.

or do you mean hot tub hopping - you could probably get away with it - the lifeguards (not security) do sometimes check resort ID - but not alot.

No I think if I wanted to hot tub I would stay in a resort that has hot tubs...

you can try to rent points from a DVC member. When are you going?

Showing up in street clothes then changing in to bathing suits before using the pools is a pretty good indicator to the life guards that maybe you don't belong there.

They can and do ask for resort ID, and if you don't have one, you'll be asked to leave.

Book the resort that has the amenities that will make you hapy. If you can't afford it on this trip, you'll have something to look forward to on teh next one.

We stayed at the Coronado and loved it but when we late one night to the hot tub there was some of the most foul mouthed teens or twenty somethings there (and I'm only 32) it was mostly the girls not just the profanity but very raunchy sex talk going on - I thought they were filming a porn movie or something. We just finally left as it was making me very uncomfortable - but maybe that was their goal - these kids definitely had NO class.

Maybe you could do a split stay, spend 2 nights or something at a mod so you can use the hot tub.

We are going in May 8th-15th, I can deal without the hot tub, BF probably can't though. How do you rent these DVC points anyway? And what is the price for the Mods during regular season? And do you think it would be worth it to maybe stay at one of the DD hotels? Considering time, food and transportation? I'm trying to figure this all out because be full balance is due today. ??? And I thought Disney didn't like you to pay it all up front.
