Hot Tub and work out area at new Poly DVC??

Do you think the Polynesian will finally get a hot tub and work out facility once the new DVC villas are built? I think its laughable that Disney charges as much as they do with the Poly and it is missing amenities that can be found at a Days Inn.

I am also miffed that they did not build a small quiet pool at the Grand Floridian Villa's. Typical modern Disney, charge premium $$$$$$ with minimum investment on their part.

Have you stayed at the Grand Floridian before? In my experience, the pools were never crowded. The ones that they have are a large size, and with the added children's play area, I really don't think that there will be an issue.

However, I agree with you, and I would hope that those amenities are added to the Poly. The older I get, the more I appreciate soaking my sore body in a hot tub after a long day of park hopping.

That new pool you're talking about was built in 2001. No hot tub at that one either. Why do you think they don't need a small quiet pool there? Is it because its Disney and you never question their decisions because they can't possibly do anything wrong? For the price that they are charging for points at this new place, there should be a pool and hot tub for the DVC add on.

There are over 900 units at GF plus the villas which would bring it over 1000. They have 2 pools and one hot tub. Saratoga Springs has 828 rooms with 5 pools and 6 hot tubs. They keep on taking short cuts because of the location.

I bet you're right. But really what can people expect when they pay $130 dollars a point or spend over $400 bucks a night at a resort

While I will admit the words Disney and Thrifty are synonymous I felt it was more of a space thing!

While I did not do a thorough investigation on our last trip - Google Map's illustrate that the new GFV are in spitting distance of the Wedding Pavilion. Even though it may have been a Quiet Pool - there will always be kids in any pool yelling and screaming! Quite honestly I was surprised that they built the GFV to begin with due to the encroachment on the Wedding Pavilion. You have to think that the Weddings brings in a ton (Hotels for Family / Guests, catering, park tickets, restaurants).

I guess DVC brings in more! And, that makes the Luau a dead-man walking (and may encroach on the Wedding Pavilion even more.). Will be like getting married in a Bronx alleyway. Regardless, we will get the usual Disney Spin: "We believe that the elimination of the Luau and the 200 folks who work there will be a positive thing which will benefit our guests."

They really should just go ahead and move the Wedding Pavilion over to Discovery Island and put in a few Honeymoon cottages - but - that is probably earmarked for DVC also!

The other possibility is to move the Wedding Pavilion to the infield of the Race Track and charge extra to have Richard Petty to serve as a ring-bearer and sell commemorative Wedding Belt Buckles!

But, I do think they can nix the Quiet Cozy Common rooms at most DVC resorts which collects more dust then visitors [Am speaking only of those I have seen at OKW, BCV and BLT] and expand these areas to be a Work-Out center or a Bar. Never have I sat on my OKW balcony overlooking a lake or golf course and say: "You know, I am going to walk a 1/2 mile and enjoy a quiet area overlooking 500 people checking in and DVC Sales People hawking time-shares". Actually, I should head down and take a few Power-Nap's during upcoming visits. My snoring could prompt positive changes that will benefit the guests in the long term.

Keep in mind - am a OKW owner and am not Anti-DVC nor am I Pro-Wedding (with an emphasis on the latter). I do understand the sentiments, but, will give WDW a pass here. When I used to be a big-time work-out guy I used to head over to SSR.

Are you talking about Papa's Den or the Community Hall? While we were waiting for the CM to resolve our issue with our reservation, we waited in Papa's Den and it was jammed packed with people waiting to be checked in, waiting for Magical Express or DCL buses. It was hard to find a seat. BCV? Yeah, the Breezeway or the other space with the TV seem to be wasted space (like one was meant to be a Community Hall, but they didn't follow through).

The area right off the check in desk is called Papa's Den (after Hemingway). The Gurgling Carry On (better??) does have outside seating, with an outside heater if you are cold. They should turn the tennis court in to company parking to free up spaces in the lot near the Hospitality House.

But I could see them putting in a tennis court in the first DVC timeshare since most timeshares in Florida (at least the older ones) have tennis courts.

I am not Anti SSR, but, I think it is missing something. Regardless, I see a huge opportunity in taking the area off the pool (near where the Preview Center / Spa area is. That big Patch of grass with the fountain - an area which invites you back to see what is there and you see there is absolutely nothing!

Take that, and, make it uptown Saratoga. Barber Shop, Pizza / Sub Shop, Ice Cream, City Hall, Antique / Equestrian Shop, Bar, etc., etc. Put a gazebo with a place for a barbershop Quartet for nightly events! Very cozy and very family oriented.

Those are horrible ideas, just awful. Why would anybody want any of that at Saratoga? No, no, nooooo.Plus you're totally wrong about that area, sometimes that have a campfire thing going on there at night and they charge people money to make smores. The entire Magic Bands is another hot-button of mine. A huge, huge, huge capital expense which benefits the bottom line and not the guests. Between that and new DVC development there is very little money left over for any park improvements.

I think the new Fantasy Land is quaint and very nice. Many may disagree, but, I feel that after the dust settled there are too few rides and more shops and restaurants. Then, they scratch their collective noggins in Burbank and wonder why it has not been well received?

Have not been to Anaheim since all of the changes to DCA, but, I hear it is fantastic, well planned and really has transformed the park.

Though I am not a fan of the Avatar concept, I do here they are making some positive changes at AK.

But, it is time they put some focus on Orlando and do something at Epcot and DHS.

DCA encourages me - they have shown me they still have the ability.

Magic Bands give me that warm fuzzy feeling about Disney. Billion dollars so they can track how much every one spends $$$$$$.

Walt Disney and even Michael Eisner with Frank Wells, had a "if you built it, they will come" type of mentality. They truly wanted to see what they could do to have the best guest experience period. Making money was the icing on the cake, but it was secondary. The new school boys are different they think "these stupid yokels keep on coming back year in year out and they pay more $$$$$$ for nothing, this is great".

This type of mentality will catch up to them and bite them in the *** eventually.
