Hot toys this year?

Is there anything you are buying now for fear it will sell out for the holidays?

Anything you are waiting to buy to see if a good sale comes up?

The only thing I really think I might buy that may be "hot" is Nintendo DS but those seem to be stocked well.

I bought my DD4 the American Girl Doll Samantha as she is being retired and I wanted to be sure I could get her and some of her clothing/accessories before they were gone. Also, I happened to come accross a Wii at Walmart one morning when I was in the store for something else, so I bought it. I had been undecided on whether that would be our family gift or not this year, but I figured if I waited, I may not come across another one. The local walmart always seems to have the hard to come by items. My husband works PT at another high volume store, and they are always ot of stock on everything...the one close by always has what I want and it is never busy..so I always shop at that one instead.

I expect Wii to be hot again this year. Also AG Samantha, as noted above.

My mom bought Spike the Dinosaur for my son at the beginning of October as I thought that would be a hard to get.....but I am still seeing it on the shelves everywhere. I think that the price point is just too high for many this christmas for a toy like that.

Everything else we are getting my son I don't expect to be a hard to find toy this year (Imaginext Pirate ship, TAG reading system). I just bought a Wii on Amazon this morning for my brother (it is from my parents, but she told me to buy one if I happened to find one).

From what I have seen in the stores the Bakugan stuff is hard to find as well as the Elmo Live.

My son wants Bakugan (got at Costco), a Tribot and Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles (saw them at Costco & Amazon) and Wii games (Super Sluggers and Star Wars).

I am really debating the Tribot - it's $79-99 but I know that they just came out with a mini Tribot (on Amazon for about $24) but I need to know if the mini does the same things as the big one. I have a feeling that it will be one of those "dud" toys - great in theory but boring once you have played with it once or twice. Anyone know?

The only thing we are considering that could be hard to find is a Wii. Ds tells me he is tired of Bakugan, so I'm not trying to find any. Tho, he did mention wanting one of the big ones, so who knows. He knows already that it is hit or miss to find them in the stores, though.

My DS6 also wants Bakugan and Tribot! He has seen all the empty shelves at the toy stores for the Bakugan, so I think in his mind he's not really expecting to get any. But I got lucky a few weeks ago. Got to TRU about an hour after they opened one Saturday (DH gave me the wrong time). Someone had already been through and just about cleaned them out. One of the floor clerks told me they were fully stocked at opening...but fortunately the person didn't take all of them, so I managed to get a few to put away for Christmas! Plus I have my dad checking the store in Japan at Epcot for any others while he is there next week. Hopefully I can get a couple more that way.

On the Tripod thing. I just can't see DS using it much at all, and for that money, I can't justify it. I looked at the mini one at RadioShack ( http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3202576 ). It isn't remote control, just battery operated. Has light up eyes and poseable arms and head, and moves in multi directions-I'm guessing it has a roller ball of some sort in the center. I am on the fence about this one. Not sure he'd really like it. I think the main selling point on the big one for him is that the eybrows go up and down. I think we'll skip it this year, and hope he isn't to mad at Santa for not getting it (he already knows we can't afford it, so that is one of his Santa requests...though he knows there is no gaurantee that he'll get it because it is a popular item this year, and Santa may not have enough for everyone...)

He also really wants Lego Batman for the Wii. He already has Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones for Wii, and loves them, so I think we'll be adding this one, also.

And of course Wall-e and Kong Fu Panda DVDs. Got KFP on sale at Best Buy last week, and am holding that until Christmas...but I don't think I'll be able to hold Wall-e that long once it comes out. I'll have to watch it right away!:happytv:
