HOT TOYS for CHRISTMAS 2006

What does everyone anticipate being the hot toys this year? My kids are not going to want the TMX Elmo, but I am curious about him. My 3 yo DD wants the new Dora Magical Castle and accesories. But what else do you think are going to be hard to find items? I always end up having to call my local Walmarts and TRUs every day the month before Christmas to find certain toys they want, because I refuse to pay triple on ebay. This year I'd rather buy them in advance so i don't wait too long and then am out of luck. Any ideas???

I havent heard much yet. I am waiting until closer to christmas to buy toys this year. I bought them in advance last year then right before christmast they came out with 10 new things he wanted and probably would have liked better.

Both my girls, 5 and 3 want Baby Alive dolls. They also now want the Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses "Let's Dance Barbie" that does the dance moves from the movie. She is the more expensive model of Genevieve. I have already ordered these items on sale a few weeks ago. I know I can't go wrong with those toys. My youngest I think will also like the new T.J. Bearytales from Playskool (think Teddy Ruxpin idea), so I ordered that for her as well. The other items will be smaller gifts, like the new Disney Fairies Shrinky Dinks book, maybe a couple story books or some new kids music.

for mine- the diego rescue set and the 12 dancing princesses from barbie's latest movie. I already have my eye on the diego set at TRU for ds and the barbie/carriage set at BJ's warehouse for dd. I know I made the mistake last year and dd wanted it closer to christmas and it was hard to find much less the set that is less $$$ like at BJ's for $39.99.. Im going to go probably next week to pick them up and put them away.. really nothing else comes to mind. the kids have gone through the etoys christmas catalog and there doesnt look like a hot toy other than the above is anything I need to worry about finding for them this year..

my DS5 got this for his birthday, and it is really cute. He blows up so big with muscles, it is hysterical!! I was worried it would be junkie, but it isn't. Definitely a good choice, he loves it!

The Cars stuff is still hard to find around here and the movie comes out around Thanksgiving on DVD... so... I'm thinking that stuff will still be hard to get around christmas.

I'm convinced that the toys that relate to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse are going to popular. My 3 year old LOVES that show. Also the toys are unisex so both boys and girls will want them.

I put a call out to all the Aunts, Uncles, and G-Parents to be on the look out for it already.

Nephews are always so hard for me to buy for ... would a 6-7 year old like this kind of thing and fit in the "outfit"?

The Nintendo Wii is going to be a hot item for MY age group! I'm thinking it will be a combination gift for me and DD, and it will come with the new version of Animal Crossing.

Yes the Wii is it for us. We already have Zelda on preorder and as soon as it is available for Wii we are switching it over to that-You will be able to use your controller as a sword!!!! I don't know who is more excited me or ds. We were thinking PS3 but talking with the video game guys- our in the know connection- they say that it is not ready to be released and if it comes out it will have bugs- since we have that problem with the playstation 2 I think we'll wait a little while = plus at that price we can buy a wii and a XBOX 360!

Yup, the Wii for us, too. DS has been talking about it for months.

The other day he also asked for a snowboard. I told him to pick one: Wii or snowbd. He picked the Wii.

I also think the Wii will be really big this holiday season. They finally announced that it will be out on Nov. 19 in the US, and it will cost $250. It will come bundled with Wii Sports. They have said that there will be 25+ games available at launch, and 30 or so available for download.

The PS3 should also be big, but at a much larger price and smaller number of consoles available it will be harder to get, I suspect.

I think TMX Elmo is some great marketing. How many tickle me Elmos can there be- we have chicken dance elmo...ect.. I have read the TMX is actually a much more puppet like - smother movement elmo..we'll see. I guess I need one of those too.

So I Google'd TMX Elmo because I've never heard of it before. These are probably two of the more informative articles I saw. It'll be interesting to see what TMX Elmo actually does do. DS3 is a big Elmo fan, so this might have to go on the shopping list! lol
