Hot Toys for 2003

I would love to see a list of the hot toys for 2003, too. I don't have any young children of my own anymore but plenty of nieces and nephews.

I asked this same question last week, and I think someone responded with a list of hot toys. I started to jot them down and can not find my list:rolleyes:

Industry Magazine Releases Its List Of The 'Must-Have' Toys For The Holidays

NEW YORK, New York -- Toy Wishes magazine today unveiled the toys it predicts will be the top sellers this holiday season - and the most impossible to find.

The list was unveiled as part of a Holiday Preview event held with the Toy Industry Association in New York.

Instead of Toy Wishes' usual "Hot Dozen," this year the list swelled to thirteen.

"We started with thousands of toys more than a year ago and around No. 16, it became extremely difficult," said Jim Silver, co-publisher of Toy Wishes.

"When we got to 13 items, nobody could come up with something to cut ... but next year, we'll go back to 12."

The Hot Dozen, in alphabetical order:

- Barbie Cook With Me Kitchen: Kid-size electronic talking kitchen in Barbie pink. By KIDdesigns.

- Barbie in Swan Lake: Barbie as Odette in Swan Lake wearing swan-inspired gown. By Mattel Inc.

- Beyblade remote control top with launcher: An upgrade of the Beyblade spinning top phenomenon. Kids can launch one of four different tops into the arena and control them with the remote. By Hasbro Inc.

- BTR Transformers: Brick construction set that lets kids build vehicles that convert to robots. By Hasbro.

- Care Bears Bedtime Lullaby Bear: Plush bear that plays a lullabye and has a glowing belly. By Play Along.

- Hokey Pokey Elmo: Sesame Street's Elmo is back, and this time, he's singing and dancing the hokey pokey. By Mattel unit Fisher-Price.

- Bratz Formal Funk Runway Disco: A playset disco with a motorised runway and makeup area; comes with a doll. By MGA Entertainment.

- LeapPad Plus Writing Learning System: An updated version of LeapPad with an emphasis on writing and math. The stylus doubles as a pencil. By LeapFrog Enterprises Inc.

- Leapster educational game system: A handheld system that plays educational games. By LeapFrog.

- McDonald's McFlurry Maker: An at-home maker of the blended ice cream treats. By Spin Master.

- My Little Pony Celebration Castle: A castle for the ponies of Ponyville; comes with an exclusive Pink Sunsparkle Pony. By Hasbro.

- Neopets voice-activated plush: A 9-inch, talking plush version of the popular virtual pets. By Thinkway Toys.

- Powertouch Learning System: An interactive educational system teaching reading skills. By Mattel unit Fisher-Price.

Thank you so much for posting that again!! I am interested in that Leapster for my 4 year old. He already has the regular Leap Pad and enjoys it!

Okay I see the word TOY and I hafta read it-- As one of the 4 toy associates at my walmart (which we are #1 in the State!) I have to put my 2 cents in...

- Barbie Cook With Me Kitchen: so far we havent sold more than 1 or 2.... Its cute but just not "kewl"

- Barbie in Swan Lake: This is our best seller so far and we are predicting running out way before christmas as we are already having a tough time ordering the dolls and such in... (most of the tie-ins havent sold as well though)

- Beyblade remote control top with launcher: also not a huge seller yet... The basic beyblades are a better seller right now

- BTR Transformers: These are very kewl! But also not a huge seller...

- Care Bears Bedtime Lullaby Bear: ummm of all the Care Bear sales so far this hasnt been the winner- The winner so far is the Singing ones and well the new basic ones....We've had this toy for awhile and its always been a pokey seller...

- Hokey Pokey Elmo: I soo want this toy (and I will KNOW the Hokey Pokey by the time Christmas hits) Its a pretty good seller so far and alot better than the Chicken Dance Elmo of last year

- Bratz Formal Funk Runway Disco: We just got this in yesterday and Walmart will be doing a huge promo in a few weeks for it.. I think the other Formal Funk stuff will do better (Its all soo expensive though- 35 each for the dolls- 70 for the limo and 60 for the disco..)

- LeapPad Plus Writing Learning System:Another awesome Seller- I reccommend the Leap System over the new FP System (Power Touch) as the Leap Sysytems have more books and can grow better. I predict this will be our best seller out of the Educational section...

- McDonald's McFlurry Maker: umm so we are supposed to have sold these by now?? Also a dead seller so far. Then again Im in Utah so the whole icecream thing may be a killer in winter...

- My Little Pony Celebration Castle:Also Fun! We have a hard time keeping any of the Pony stuff in right now.

- Neopets voice-activated plush: Also a non seller right now- The little ones are going alot faster...

- Powertouch Learning System: Can I just say what a stupid system?? Unless they have huge plans for expansion I woulndt waste money on this. Its only geared for K-2 and Id be streching it with that... So far they only have a few (less than 8) books available and only 4 announced and they are all based upon reading... Id spend the extra 8 bucks and go with Leap Pad because it goes from K-6 with dozens of choices...

The other sellers weve picked this year are :
Cranium
Uno Attack
the 20 buck Princess Dresses
Lord of the Rings Risk
14.88 Playsets (Pirate, Fortress, Animal)
