Hot plate so I don't burn my new counter top?

Anyone know where I could get a large (like 20x14" at least or so) board to set on my counter top that could handle the heat from things coming from the stove or the oven? I've seen some at Kmart but I think they said they'd handle up to 350 degrees - and the others i've seen don't say anything! I don't care what it is made of (I think I've seen glass ones mostly) but I'd like something decorative or in colors if possible....but I'll take white! I have little kids and tend to need to yank things right out and put them somewhere. I've got a big piece of counter top next to the wall oven and I'm really wanting something to put there as a hot plate. It is great to have a new kitchen and finally....countertop space, more cabinets and DRAWERS! (can you believe my old kitchen did not have one single drawer!).

Will the tuftop ones at QVC work? That's one that looks nice.
Any help appreciated!

Thanks!!!
