:welcome: We're definitely going to have one in the parks, just a question of whether or not we decide to bring our own on the plane and through the airport. Believe me, I think my husband is crazy with a capital C for not wanting to just take ours...

...I had SOMETHING, anything to update on this thread...but....:sad2:...I don't. As you know, we've made our ADRs, switched resorts, added a day, and changed our flight, so I don't think there will be any more major changes.

I am still clinging to some hope that Disney will release some sort of discount for the week we're going to be there, but who knows.... the room-only discounts didn't come out until December or something like that last year and, frankly, I'm not holding my breath right now.

Work has been rather stressful to say the least. :headache: One of the (many) things that is tough about teaching is that you can feel as though your job is NEVER done. Its not as though I finish a project or an assignment and then move onto something else; it just feels never-ending at times. Working at a charter school with an extended day makes it a lot harder, too, frankly, as does my expanded role. Now, I switched schools knowing exactly what I was getting myself into, but... its still hard and its hard to be away from Max. Mark jokes about being a single dad! The hardest part, this year, though has definitely been our eighth graders. They are just a tough group of kids. Teaching is also funny in that respect; some years you get a great group and some years...well...not so much. Not that there aren't wonderful, amazing stand-out students every year, but teaching is a lot about dealing with an entire class and the chemistry that develops among those twenty-five kids.

I went on a planning retreat this weekend with a good friend of mine from school and thought I would get everything done for the next nine weeks....I failed. Not an epic fail, mind you, but not exactly what I was hoping for. What I was really hoping for was that I would get enough done to NOT work at all over Columbus Day weekend. Looks like that's not happening... Oh well.

I just keep wishing for February to be here, already...and then I feel guilty about literally wishing my life away... oh.... wishes.

February will be here before you know it. I remember when my ticker said 4 months and I thought it would NEVER get here! :goodvibes

Hi, Tina. Sorry about all the stress with teaching. I don't know if I told you, but our oldest is student teaching this Fall and absolutely loves it. He got his first evaluation and they are quite impressed with him. :thumbsup2 He spends several nights a week up until 11 or midnight (after he comes home from coaching or baseball lessons, etc.) doing his class planning.

How about doing a few "what not to miss lists" and people can give you suggestions? It will will certainly help pass the time.

Thanks for the suggestion, Kathy. And tell your son that it does (despite everything I just said) get easier. I'm glad to hear he's loving it and doing well. Education needs as many dedicated people as it can get. I remember all too well how little I slept my first year of teaching. Of course, I was much younger then. :rotfl:

Oh...isn't it crazy expensive to rent one? I think it would be cheaper and more convenient to just check one..or maybe buy a cheapy one at walmart when you get there? One you could toss! Or have you checked out the stroller swap threads?? idk how they work, but you may wanna look into that!

Yes, I think we paid something like $13 a day to rent a stroller. It was slightly less for buying a week long stroller ticket book. Double strollers are almost double the price. You would be best served bringing your own, next choice buying one at Target or Wal-mart there and leaving it if you don't want to take it home or buying the nice stroller that they sell at the parks. I bought that one and I've been quite pleased with it, although someone told me the current model doesn't have the basket underneath. I like that basket for my purchases.

tina...I cant wait till my cruise in december..and I think I've thought about it every day since I booked it..and that was like a year ago...so you're not wishing your life away :rotfl2:

Well, I think the two of you have officially convinced me to override my husband on this one and take the stroller. Thanks for the advice. Any and all advice regarding traveling with small children is much appreciated. :thumbsup2

Thanks...I hope not. A cruise sounds lovely right about now...

Just popping in to say hi and I hope things have calmed down a little with school.

 I literally just posted over on your TR! :rotfl: Thanks for asking...things are calming down a bit; just having this long weekend and the resulting short week next weeks helps tremendously. Our students have a round of tests they take every six weeks, so we're wrapping up our current unit, getting prepped for their test, and then taking the test, so it actually gives me a second to catch my breath. I've had a lovely weekend with Mark and Max and hope to post an update about it with some pictures shortly.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend and its not too cold out there yet!

I just look at the calendar and I know its going to be Halloween before I know it! :scared1:

So, here in the Northeast, Columbus Day weekend is usually either at or near peak foliage time and if you live in CT, it is generally the time when you first realize, hey...wait a minute...it really IS going to be fall! It has been a stressful six weeks so I have been looking forward to this long weekend for a chance to slow down, take a deep breath, and spend some quality time with my family. Which we have, luckily!

Saturday afternoon, Max and I drove down to see my friend Meghan's new apartment in Brooklyn Heights. We got some beautiful pictures on the Promenade, had a nice lunch, played at the playground, and then drove back home.

Mark stayed home to get some school work done (he's a teacher, too) and went out and suprised me with a new Blu-Ray of "Beauty and the Beast," which I never realized I liked so much. Needless to say, it looks spectacular on a flatscreen, high def t.v. in Blu Ray. The colors are just amazing. What was perhaps even more surprising was how into it Max was! He like the movie so much, in fact, that he has now watched it twice in twenty four hours. :lmao:

This morning was the start of another glorious day and we had decided to go to the local orchard for some breakfast and apple picking! It was beautiful and we now have more apples than I know what to do with, especially since I don't bake!

Happy Fall!

Nice update, Tina. I bake, but not pies, so the apples would have done me no good. I want to go get the new Beauty & The Beast too--it is my all-time favorite Disney movie.

I love the pics of Max...he's just so cute.

So SORRY I have not posted here in a while, but I did read!!!!!!!!! (Mostly at school during my in between lessons hours ;))

I LOVE the new photos, especially Max - I cannot wait to meet him (and his mum and dad! :thumbsup2) in February!

Since you have so many apples - have you ever tried a Tarte Tatin - not too much work and SO yummy!!! :cloud9:

Thanks, Kathy! And I have to say...how can you not love Belle? And "Be Our Guest" has always been one of my favorite musical numbers.

Thank you, Karin. I know how it is, believe me. Sometimes I read through threads, completely enjoying them, and don't say much because I often don't have time! And in those moments at school, when I'm prepping lessons, and just need a break, I often pop onto the boards! ;)

I've never tried making a Tarte Tatin, but that's not a bad idea...a bit more free-form than a pie, right?

We can't wait to meet you, either. We'll have to make a plan when the time gets closer, I certainly don't want to leave that to chance this time. I'm hoping and you and Tom end up at CSR, too. I've been waiting for news of ANY kind of discount for that week, but so far...nothing. Oh well. Luckily, I planned a trip we could afford, regardless, but lord knows a discount would be much appreciated. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 We need a little distraction from school while AT school, don't we? :rotfl2:

We love Tarte Tatin - make a caramel (little bit of salt in it is real good, pop in the apples, puff pastry on top, into the oven and Bob's your uncle, as my UK auntie says! ;) It really is a yum yum dessert!

OMG, can I relate to waiting for a discount! :lmao: Guess what - for our trip next summer, Disney.uk was offering the same deal for OKW, they did for this summer (42% off resort + Free Dining). Now, with 3 cruises and a trip in February we discussed back and forth if we could afford it ...... then finally when we decide to go for it - it is NO longer available :scared1: - we still have until December for it to come back and I am hopeful as NO DVC resorts seem to be available for that time frame! So, in the meantime I upgraded the second part to POR with FD.
As for February, we are still booked at Pop, but I am hoping for an AP discount to upgrade to a moderate - preferrably CSR. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
But no matter what happens, we will have a car and can meet you wherever you want - CSR sounds great! ;)

Just popping in to say hi. I finally figured out how to adjust the font, size and color! whoo hoo... Ok it takes some of us a little longer. I just started my trip report. I have a link to it at the bottom of my signature. Just 39 more days!!:wizard:

Hi, Mindy! There hasn't been much action over here lately, as the bulk of my planning is done and I'm in that sort of lull where most of the planning's done, but it way tooo early to start thinking about packing, yet. I have been over to check our TR, as well. :goodvibes

Well, hello. There has been very little to report on the trip planning front as of late, I'm afraid. Resort has been chosen, ADRs have been made (mostly...see question below), flights have been booked (and re-booked!)

I have to admit that I am trying very hard not to focus too much on this trip. I have quite a bit of (positive) change coming my way in the next ten months or so, and I am trying to work on living in the moment, before all of life's little moments pass me by.

Needless to say, this weekend was more of a trial as Max was sick with a really bad sore throat and fever, which he was kind enough to pass on to me. Max was fine by Saturday and went off to his grandparent's for the evening, as Mark and I had planned a date night. Well, that didn't quite work out, as I was feeling so lousy and thought a nice dinner out would be wasted on me, so we stayed home and watched a movie (Lymelife w/ Alec Baldwin and Cynthia Nixon, it was pretty good) and I got to rest, which was good.

On the planning side, I did recently make the change-over from my summer to fall wardrobes and had fun putting aside items for Disney for both Max and I. Mark refused to do the same, insisting he knows where he put his summer clothes away and he'll be fine! :sad2: We'll see....

So...onto questions... I was thinking about the fact that we're on the DxDDP and only doing one signature and will probably end up with an extra TS credit in the end. We have an ADR for Boma for our second night, but I've heard some not great things about their dinner (not a huge buffet fan as it is, especially for dinner...I find I always eat way too much and don't necessarily love everything I eat). I really want to go over to AKL for dinner ,though. So I asked Mark about meals he remembered from our last trip and surprisingly, be brought up Jiko. He really enjoyed the towel service. So, I looked into an ADR there. Just wondering if its worth it...is Boma that bad? I know I'll have a three year-old, but we're on the DxDDp, so the cost is the same regardless. What do you think? :confused3

Question two: there are a lot of Disney movies Max has never seen and I haven't seen or I haven't seen since I was a very small child. What movies do you recommend we MUST see before our trip? Just as an FYI, we're mostly caught up on the Pixar movies (except a Bug's Life) and Max did love Beauty and the Beast. Let me know!
