Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog! LINK TO TRIP REPORT!!!

Thanks, Kathy. It is true, about missing the Dis and staying at CR. I'm actually quite happy to reserve a garden wing room for the time being. We took a pretty extensive tour of the CR when we were there in February and the garden wing didn't feel so far away to me. We'll see if they offer some sort of super deal (like 4/3, for instance) and then I might consider the upgrade. And who knows? I could be the recipient of some pixie dust!

Tina, we actually enjoyed the garden wing. As great as the view is from the tower, the boys (and us) were so tired, that we only sat on the balcony once to watch the fireworks.

And, that pixiedust:pixiedust:, is definitely possible. Our very first stay at the CR we booked a garden wing and we were upgraded to the tower with a view of the castle. :)

We actually thought that the end of the garden wing, near Bay Lake, was very serene and beautiful. And I've noticed that an awful lot of people like to complain about the walking at the Disney resorts and we just didn't think they were a big deal. I want the room decor, the overall room size, the location near MK and I know those things aren't any different in the garden wing! :rotfl:

...and could not figure out why no one had responded to it! :rotfl: That's because I apparently wrote it and then it didn't post for some reason (probably my fault :rolleyes1)

Anyway, we left for our week at the beach on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts. We rent a small place with my parents and my cousin Joe is along for the ride this time, as well. I am being very careful to track my expenses this time, as I am dying to know how it compares to a Disney vacation.

In years past, we never had wireless internet, or internet of any kind. I brought my laptop anyway, hoping I could get a little work done for school. And lo and behold...the house now has wireless! I almost wish it didn't, as I was looking forward to a week without the internet... oh well. Have to find the cure for my internet addiction someplace else. :goodvibes

So...a BIG announcement...I am going to book the Contemporary. As all of you know, it is my DREAM :cloud9: resort. I fell in love when I rode the monorail through it as a little girl and I thought it was amazing when we had dinner there this past February. I love the architecture!

I finally got approval from the person from whom I needed it...my mom. She actually said that after this past year that we deserved it. Go figure. :confused3 I can't say that I disagree with her. And this trip we will be spending some serious time at our resort, so I figure if there is ever a time to splurge, its now, for a LOT of reasons.

I also did some math regarding our dining choices and the dining plan. I knew that in addition to the regular plan, I wanted to do dinner at California Grill, site of one of the absolute best moments on what was, at many points, an abysmal trip (not Disney's fault...our fault...just couldn't leave our problems in Connecticut, had to take them with us). I also want to do virtually every character meal possible, as I think Max is going to really enjoy them. Plus, I was going to have do something for Max's breakfast on the days we weren't doing a character breakfast, as he has scrambled eggs pretty much every morning. Bottom line was that when I added in the cost of Cali Grill, as well as another OOP TS meal, the difference was only around ninety bucks. So, we're going with the Deluxe plan, as well!:banana::banana:

This trip is going to be amazing...and now I have to tinker with our intinerary, because that's going to have be changed around, too!
:rotfl:

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I bet you are so excited! Anything at Disney is nice, but I think we all have our dream place to stay. The deluxe dinning plan too? THAT is so awesome too. A good time to do that is now when Max isn't an adult price. Oh I am excited for you. You will have to take lots of pictures and share. After such a rough year for you, it will be so much needed/deserved. Congrats!

Thank you! :goodvibes Although, I woke up this morning to find out that the 2011 packages are up on-line and priced ours out...:scared1: But I figured that CR would be X amount more than CSR and I'm right. I also think I'm going to scale back just a tiny bit and stay for six nights with a very late flight out on the last day. So...back to the drawing board plans-wise! :rotfl: That's OK, more planning fun for me. As I'm trying to explain to my dad, Disney has become my hobby. Some people scarpbook or knit or god only knows what else...I plan trips to Disney! :rotfl:

Congrats on making a resort decision!!!! You do deserve to splurge a bit and if you book your dream resort, you should go for it!!!! Will wish for some pixie dust for you, maybe a great MK view so you can watch fireworks in your room :cloud9:

THANKS! :goodvibes

So, incredibly, this is my THIRD shot at making plans for day one... at this rate, I''ll never make it to the end of the week.:lmao:

As I stated in my PP, we have decided to go for the Contemporary, although I am booking a garden view room. I am perfectly happy with this. The view from the tower of MK would be amazing, but it is A LOT more money. I love the CR for its architecture, style, and location and I can get all of those things over in the garden wing, thank you. Besides, who knows? There could be some pixie dust floating around... you never know! But I will be so thrilled to just be staying at the Contemporary. :cloud9:

Looks like we'll be flying in on Jet Blue and will get into MCO around eleven. Then onto Magical Express! :cool1: After that, we'll go to the resort and check-in (though I'm pretty sure I'll do on-line check-in...I think that's such a cool thing to be able to do!). From there, we'll grab lunch at the Contempo Cafe and then hang out around the resort until its time to get into our room!

Just writing that paragraph... I can't even believe it. I remember walking around the Grand Concourse last year just wanting so badly to be staying there and now I am going to make it happen! :dance3:

Once we're in our room, we can relax and HOPEFULLY Max will take a nap. :worship: Then we're off to dinner at Chef Mickey's! It makes sense to start there since we're staying at the Contemporary. Afterwards, we will head on over to the Magic Kingdom! :cool1: We'll make it to Wishes and then bring Max back to the room to go to sleep.

...and then...evening EMH's at the MK for Mommy! Yup, I'm going to experience some solo Disney time. I have every intention of riding BTMR until I'm just dizzy, something my husband has no real interest in doing, anyway. And maybe I'll be able to meet some Dis Friends! :woohoo:

Tina, the plans for Day 1 sound perfect. And, although not a fan of Chef Mickey's for dinner, I think it is a great way to introduce Max to the characters and you will be able to see how he is going to react to them.

That is awesome that you get to stay at your dream resort! Congrats!

BTW, where in CT are you? We are also in CT and leave in 45 days for our DD's first trip to celebrate her 3rd birthday.

Believe me, we are NOT going to Chef Mickey's for the food! :rotfl: But I figure if we're staying at the CR, we might as well take advantage of it!

Thanks...I'm a little nervous about the price tag, still. :scared1: But it will be OK and our last time that we stay deluxe for a long time. I can partially justify it at this point because we are travelling with a three year old and we want the extra room..oh, who am I kidding? I just want to stay at the Contemporary! :lmao:

We live in central CT, about halfway between Hartford and New Haven. Always fun to hear from someone else from CT! :goodvibes

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::dance3::dance3::woohoo::woohoo::dance3::dance3:

Tina, I am very happy for you.

Yeah, we're pretty excited! Also a little freaked out that we're spending this much money, but we're only doing it once! For now... :rotfl: No, in all seriousness, I am not one of those people who will stay deluxe once and then never be able to stay at a moderate again. I will have no problem spending future trips at CSR, I just had to try to do this, just this once. Plus, we're considering driving down for a visit next summer! :rotfl:

We cut down our number of days to do it (pray for a 4/3 deal :rotfl:), but when I was looking at a full seven days.... well, let's just say there's only so much we can do when Max is going to be going to bed by nine a lot of nights. :lmao:

So, we're just really excited...can't believe we did it!

Max just completely fell in love with Clubhouse Mickey with very little prodding from me, seriously. And, yes, BTMR is amazing at night! I could not believe how empty the park was by about 1 a.m....we were literally walking onto the most popular rides in the MK.

Thought I would post some pictures of the Contemporary from last year, when I first got to really visit it.

I started to take pictures of it all right away. They aren't the best shots of the CR ever taken, but it gives you a sense of what my husband and I saw that night.

Walking towards the pool and garden wing...

I loved how serene and beautiful this area was, yet all you had to do was walk into the Tower and there were tons of people and kids everywhere!

The next two are just pictures of Mark and I hanging out in the lobby, before showing up for our ADR at the California Grill.

I wanted to take the furniture home! :lmao: Mark said I couldn't! Unfortunately, my pictures inside of the California Grill did not come out very well at all. I was too caught up in the moment to take any really great shots. I have to say that it was the CR that I really felt the pixie dust for the first time. :tink: We had noted our anniversary on our reservation, but it was the CM at the reservation desk at the California Grill that caught it that first time and gave us our "buttons," which made us feel special the rest of our trip. And then there was our front row, outstanding meal during Wishes!

Up next...DAY TWO!

I will provide a full mini-trip report about this week at the beach when we're back, but suffice it to say its been hot and humid with no a/c! :scared1: And Max does NOT like the beach, :confused3 which is all there is to do this far out on the Cape. Today, I asked him what he would rather do: go to the beach, or go to a park with rides? He chose the latter. :goodvibes

On a personal note, I really feel like this trip is the one thing in my personal life that I can hold onto and control right now. There are numerous forces at work beyond me at this point and I have to let it all go. Things will happen when and how they are meant to, and in due time. At least I know my professional life will keep me busy and feeling like I'm in control of something! :surfweb:

All that other "stuff" aside...onto DAY TWO!

After what I am sure will be the most glorious sleep of my life thus far... ;) (or the worst if I go through with my plans for evening EMHs at MK) we will stop for a quick breakfast at Contempo Cafe before heading to the monorail to make EPCOT for rope drop. Breakfast is often the meal that Max eats the most at, so I want to make sure he has a good one everyday, even if Mark and I just prefer coffee and maybe a muffin or something.

Once at EPCOT, our plans will remain as they were...Soarin'...fastpasses...the Land...etc. Then it will be over to World Showcase for a lunch ADR at Via Napoli. The menu looks fantastic; things I would really enjoy! And Italian food is my absolute favorite food...so much so that I even don't mind pretty bad red-sauce Italian, yet I always make my own sauce at home and have been known to make my own pasta from time to time. Weird, I know.

The afternoons are going to be much harder to predict, as they will depend largely on how Max seems to be doing. If he's up for it, perhaps we'll stop at one of the WS rides, like the Malestrom or the boat ride in Mexico. I could even see myself stopping at Spaceship Earth again, as it is one of my favorite rides in all of Disneyworld. I must have really loved Horizons, even if I don't quite remember it! :confused3

Now, here is where the convenience of the monorail comes into play... I would like to spend at least a couple hours in the evening at Hollywood Studios. They have EMHs on this night and maybe we can see some things and ride some rides. Or not. I had originally thought about doing dinner at 50's Primetime because I know Max will be amused by it... but I couldn't get over the fact that the food there was just abysmal. And we didn't get a very enthusiastic server.

Considering all of that, I rearranged and realized it would be a good night to do an early ADR at Ohana. Aftewards, if we make it over to DHS...we do...if not, well, we head back to the resort, watch some fireworks, and relax! :goodvibes

So, its pretty much official...Max hates the beach! :sad1: Guess that means future summer vacations might have to be to Disneyworld! :lmao:
