Hot dog buns (thanks to the mac and cheese thread)

Which kind of hot dog buns do you have in your area?

While living in Cape Cod, my DH grew up with the "top sliced" hot dog buns.

Now that we are in Pennsylvania, we can only buy "side sliced" hot dog buns.

We visited family on the Cape over Christmas and we came home with some extra top sliced buns to freeze. DS thinks they make hot dogs taste SO much better. I have to agree!!

Top sliced all the way! My parents live in FL and whenever they come up for a visit, they bring several dozen rolls home with them.

We actually have both available, but the side sliced are much more common.

I never saw a top sliced hot dog bun until I moved to Maine. That was the only kind I could find up theya!

Down here in Virginia, I've seen both available, but the side sliced is more popular.

I LOVE the top-sliced hot dog buns. When I was growing up in NJ the only place you could get one was at Howard Johnson's and Friendly's. But then they became available in the supermarkets by the time I was an adult. I love when they're grilled too

We have both here, but mostly the side sliced. I think it says something like "New England style" on the package of the top sliced kind.

That is unheard of here...........we buy the buns unsliced & slice them ourselves to how we like it.

Just what we are given. I had not even heard of top sliced buns, let alone buns that weren't even sliced yet!

I don't think that makes me lazy because I buy pre-sliced buns.

I've never even heard of top-sliced buns until today! How weird! I don't think it's lazy. Anyone remember when bagels suddenly got popular and the ER's got so busy with people slicing their fingers cutting their bagels? I'm glad those are pre-sliced now too!
